The history of the Mach 1 is coming to light. I obtained a Marti Report and determined that the build date for the vehicle was June 1, 1977. It was ordered as a stock unit in a Ford Dealership in my home town. It would have been ordered by my father who was sales manager and a co-owner at the time. He ordered all of the vehicles. The car was sold in August of 77 to a gentleman in a neighbouring town. He loved the car when new but got angry because of persistent t-top leaks and sold the car after two years. He has regretted that and was actually looking for the car when we got to talking. He was quite surprised to see the car still alive. He brought his wife to a local car show to look at the car. Apparently, he proposed to her in that car. He sent me a couple of scanned images of the car taken after he bought it. The car is shown in it's original 6V Medium Gold Metallic colour code.

Below is a copy of the Marti Report. Since the Mach 1 had a separate code in the VIN, the numbers truly reflect how few with the combination were ever produced.
There was:
200 Built with that Paint Code
36 Built with that Paint/Trim Codes
1149 with that engine/Transmission code
9 Ordered from that DSO
494 T-Roof Covertibles
