The car belonged to a woman in Chicago, who bought it after seeing one on the road and falling in love with it. She drove it for years, until the balance shaft gear broke and was never replaced. My dad and I were originally going to buy it and fix it up as a daily driver for myself, but after evaluating the condition of the body we decided it was probably way out of my price range to restore it. In the end, we decided to keep the car and restore it at his expense.
A picture taken immediatley when we brought her home. The engine was in the the back of the U-Haul completley covered in rust.
We've put many hours into the engine. After removing all the rusty parts there was grease all over everything else. Once the block was relativley clean we hauled it into the garage and dissasembled it. Three exhaust valves were bent, and the balance shaft gear was stripped. We had to send the heads out to have work done on them. In the meantime we rebuilt the bottom end. We placed the old Ford carb on the intake manifold to take this picture, but a Weber will replace it shortly.
Our most recent picture of the body was taken after we removed the hood, fenders, bumpers, and portions of the interior.
More coming soon
