DeSoto Trail Ride 4/23/06
The weather was terrific, but on the warm side. Recent rain kept the dust down on the roads, yet the trails were quite dry. We took on new challenges and overcame all of them except for a large washout called "The Gauntlet". It starts off easy and becomes increasingly impossible. If you try to climb out of it to either side, it takes away your traction. If you go at it straight, it takes your clearance while trying to turn your rig onto its doorhandle.
Nismogone bent a tie rod while flexing on a stump. He made it right up, but rolled back off before I could get a picture. I convinced him to try again and again and again. (I am a bad influance.) We were able to straighten it on the trail enough to continue.
We had a traditional MRE lunch at a beautiful campsite.
