Here is my 1969 GTO! The car came into the collection about 5 years ago. It spent more than half of its life indoors in the California desert, and is very well preserved. A man bought this car, presumably in the late '70's, as a father-son project. The son was only a very small boy, and the idea was to do jobs on the car as the son grew up, and then, when the boy reached driving age, he would have a fresh Goat as a first car. Well, a lot of work was done to the car, but when the boy came of driving age, he preferred a pickup truck. This is beyond my comprehension, but it really happened. The forlorn, and no doubt disgusted father put the GTO up for sale, and the rest is history. The numbers matching engine and transmission have been rebuilt. The original rear end is long gone, and has been replaced with a 2.73 out of a Grand-Prix. The car needs a fresh paint job, and the interior could use some undoing of "customizing" that the previous owner did, but overall the car is very drivable. This is a great cruiser thanks to the high gears, and is the only GTO in the collection routinely driven more than 50 miles from home. It is rough around the edges, but most of the parts to restore it have already been purchased, and the car definitely has more style and class than anything built since the invention of the catalytic converter!
