Our 1981 Corvette
My wife ordered this Corvette and took delivery of it in October of 1980. It is an automatic with most of the options and has 50,000 miles. It has never been modified, repainted or restored in any way.
Well, they don't stay new forever. This winter I need to raplace all of the body weatherstrips. I noticed a small water leak at the front of the right door and after close inspection I see that most of the rubber is cracked. Since you can save money by buying a whole car weatherstrip set I'll just do them all and be done with it. I also need to replace the valve cover gaskets again. I'm using the blue silicone ones with the stainless steel inner shim this time. As you can see from the photo it is not a fun job. The passenger side is the worst.
