Exterior...
I love the Exterior of the new Mini. One thing most people don't realize, is how big it is. It's only a wee bit smaller than a Golf, Jetta, Civic, MR2, or RX7/8. There's not much trunk room, but that's fine because I have a truck for that. The back seats are good for short trips but not long trips, but that's fine, because this is a commuter and fun car... Though I do have a Mini buddy who has 2 child seats. Anyhow, I love the exterior styling of the Mini. As you can probably tell, I've not done much except to accent it.
These some with the 'sport' package of the Mini S, but I feel they're worth their own spot on the exterior page. These lamps surprised me at first, not only with their brightness, but with their autoleveling feature. Get in the car at night and turn on the lamps, and the lights go from point to the ground, to pointing straight ahead. Kind of like someone opening their eyes. It's quite a neat effect. And, the lights are hella bright.
This Lightbar is made by Alta, and mounts with the drilling of four holes into the aluminum bumper skirt. It's quite sturdy, and fairly easy to wire up. It comes with 4 IPF lights, which are designed in Japan for the Australian Outback. One thing that made me love this mod more, was when my wife saw them and said "Ugh. It's not 'cute' anymore". BAHAHAHA!!! As the kids would say, "I r teh win!".
The stock MC (Mini Cooper) indicators are ugly amber, and the MCS has white a white lens with an amber bulb. You can see the amber bulb through the lens which, in my humble opinion, is pretty tacky.
Custom Double Silver Metallic Pin-stripes by AesthetiCreations.net
DragonFlyer (Mike) did up these custom stripes for me. I love them. They're exactly what I wanted. He's very good, and provided photoshop pics of what to expect the car to look like before I ordered, which helped me a great deal for dealing with custom work over the internet. Highly suggest AC for custom vinyl work.
This is our club marker for the DC Metro Mini's. We span locally from Richmond VA to Baltimore, Annapolis to the Blue Ridge Mountains... We love to get togehter and drive around. See my links for a link.
A huge forum for all things Mini. Ranging from Social discussions, chats, and talks... To road racing and professional racing... To beginner and advanced Mini modifications. Sponsored by many vendors, a great source of information, and 99.5% good people. The Batmini (project) wouldn't have been as successful as it has been so far without the help and support of the NAM community. Lots of good help, tips, information, and guides to be found there for Mini owners. Likely the only decal to go on my Mini.
This kit by BMW/Mini replaces the front grills which were chrome trimmed with black slats, with honeycomb grills... It also replaces the lower front bumper skin, the lower side skirts (which now has an air flow through vent at the rear), and the rear bumper skirt. BMW/Mini claims this kit is effective at lowering the drag co-efficient as well as improving the look, but have yet to post #'s in the few years the kit has been available.
Before and after
M7 Tuning "Extreme" Air Scoop
This scoop comes from M7 (M7tuning.com) and was custom painted black for me. As well as forcing more air into the supercharger, this part also functions to enhance the look of the Mini away from 'cutesy' which all girls loves to piss me off by calling it... To a much more aggressive look. Even my wife said "I don't like it. It doesn't look cute anymore."
As far as I know, I was the first car in the USA to have these mounted. They posted the protoype on their website (perfectlyround.com) and I called and hounded them until they got their first shipment in. So while maybe not the first, I was definitely in the first batch. I love these wheels, and they match my theme very well. You can see the red of the Rotora big brake kit through them very well also.
