My Tools
Id thought Id do a show-and tell of my most favorite (and most used) tools I have.
heres my nice Clarke stick welder. Its actually my friend Sashas, but he's letting me use it for as long as I want. I have learned many tricks to using a stick welder on almost anything. I have to, because this is the ONLY welder I have!
I just made this, a sheet metal brake. I made it out of entirely scrap wood. Works swell for me making it out of junk!
My Dad's compressor he has had even before I was born. He used it for airbrushing, which it worked great for that, but try anything more than that, and it just would suck the air right out. I tried painting using a spray gun, using a DA sander, chisel, and my sandblaster, but it would take over 5 min just for it to get to 100PSI at initial startup, and use your airtool for more than 3 seconds, and you were back down to 10 or 20. Sad, isn't it! So what I did was I put a larger pulley on the motor, and now its spinning really fast. It takes about 20-30 seconds to hit the switch at 110, and most tools just jolt the needle back anout 5psi, then it just recovers right away. My Dad couldnt belive it could work so well.
My 50-year-old sawzall I refurbished and repainted. Didn't make a ver y cood pain choice, but it runs like a champ. Was a Christmas present from my Mom and Dad.
My beloved 1962 Schwinn Racer. Heres another one of my iterests, restoring old Shwinns. What a nice bike, I have probably gotten some 2-3000 miles put on it since I have owned it. It got stolen this year (my original bike lock broke, so I didnt lock it up at school) I came to find it gone after school one day. I did get it back a few days later, but thats a LONG story!!
Now I have a huge lock and braided steel line.
The reason why I included it in my tools is that I have done do much with my bike that has to do with my truck. It has taken me the the scrapyard, Auto Zone, Anders auto parts, the meatl fab plac many many times. I even hauled my dead radiator core with it to the yards!
One time I found a good deal on two like new firestone tires for 6 buckeroos at a rummage sale at a guy's storage shed. all I had was my bike, so guess what I did, I slung both of them over my handle bars, and off I rode. I had to stetch my legs pretty far apart, but I got them home, but without a few amused looks from people passing by me!!!
