Purchased as a stock brown 13b RX5, it has been increasingly modified over the years with various engine setups. From standard, to a 13b extend port, to 13b bridge port, to currently having SINCE 1998 a 13b turbo engine conversion from a Mazda RX7. During that time it's been modified to be a fast & reliable 11 second street car. The current engine was built in 1999 (still with excellent compression in 2009) has always put out over 300 rear wheel horsepower.

The RX5 ran its best time of 11.71 recently which you can view below. As we found out on the day it still had a unknown electrical issues to sort out as it had hesistant 3rd gear acceleration. The 11.71 was run on a safe 14psi without using the transbrake.

It now has a Garrett T04Z turbo replacing the TA45. The exhaust housing size is 1.00 which provides a snappy response with very little lag.
A new 3 inch Rotaflow exhaust system replaces the 4 inch.

A Malpassi fuel regulator is back in the RX5.
Mazda RX8 seats have also been installed replacing the standard RX5 seats. The drivers seat retains its full electrics. The passenger seat as released by Mazda is a manual.

Matching RX8 rear seats are currently being fitted to the RX5. While its always been possible to fit 3 adults in the back uncomfortably, it will now be a comfortable 2+2 seater.

A B&M Pro-Stick has replaced the worn B&M Quicksilver shifter. The previous Jatco 3N71b auto transmission which had a shift kit and modified valve body was in the for years and is still in excellent working condition. But it has been replaced with another 3-speed Jatco 3N71b. Though this one is a tough, fully race prepped, full manual auto with all the fruit including transbrake capability which is now hooked up to the red button on the gearknob and works and launches the RX5 hard. The transbrake by itself will cut 1/4 mile times by 1/2 a second when a diff upgrade is done in the future. Shifts between gears are more responsive, firmer and faster.

It has now been tuned to 14psi for street/drag duties using street fuel and makes 300rwhp on the dyno using 3rd gear. The traditional 2nd gear powerrun isnt possible because it was smoking the tyres on the tuners dyno rollers. If a 2nd gear powerrun was done, it would show 330+rwhp.

Sweet looking RX5. I just started a CarDomain group called Club Rotary & I was wondering if you would like to join it? If so go to the groups section & join, you will be approved! I am trying to get all the "rotor heads" in 1 big group. Thanks. Would like to see the older rotaries represented too!
