My intention is to further develop the car into a club racer. Further mods will include lowering 40 mm, uprated rear sway bar, gas shock all round, uprated brakes including slotted discs, racing seats, harness, roll cage, sports steering wheel.
I've considered a body kit but that could cause a problem with autocross events which are traditionally over rough terrain, plus this Bird is a "workhorse" not a show pony.
Currently the car has a SR20DE with auto trans but plan to fit a SR20DET and 5 speed in the future, that will make a huge difference in performance but for now I'm concentrating on handling and stopping ie safety first.
Recently entered the car in its current form in an autocross event and was suprised at its performance coming 5th in class and mid field finish overall. This was against purpose built club cars and the odd V8 powered vehicle. Future events will see some weight loss initiatives to improve the power/weight ratio. Easy wins here would include removal of rear seating.
These cars are under-rated and as such very few are entered into competetive events but I aim to change that perception.
