1999 Nissan 200sx Z-edition. Number 76 of 200.

SR20DET engine

Carstens_Garage's 1999 Nissan 200SX

History
My car was born in 1999. It's an European 200sx (USA 240sx model) with a black-top SR20DET engine.

I had been wanting to have a special car for a while. I car that lookes great and would drive great.

After I did some research, I found the car that I'd really love to have. This would be, if I were able to find it, a Z-edition model 200sx. A Z-edition 200sx was manufactured in Germany only with a limited edition of 200 models. 100 black and 100 red.

I guess that I had all the luck I could get because I found one in an increadible good shape. The previous owner had not tampered with the car (unmodded). It had got 47,000 km (29,000 miles) on it and it looked brand new. Everything looked brand new; the bodywork, the engine, even the underwork (the metal underneath the car) looked brand new (still does, :D ). Yeah, I found a car that was baby'd. The only 'spot' the car had was some wear on the leather of the driver's seat.

Now that I've got this car I must frankly say that buying the car was the best investment I ever did. The car really is 100% fun to drive. Maybe it is because of the 2 liter turbo engine (200hp) and/or that it was lowered by 30cm (z-edition) but you gotta believe me that it really drives superb. To be honest and in my opinion, the car 'feels' better than for instance the new Infinity G35 and also better than an old BMW 3-series. No kiddin'. You can feel the grip through the steering wheel. Braking is great and for me... the engine's power is more than enough. Driving the car on a wet road makes you want to drive careful if you know what I mean, or just have fun if you know what I mean (lol).

Design is always a personal thing. I love it of course. The curves that start at the headlights and go all over to the back of the car. The mean-looking headlights. The height/width ratio if you look from the back. The big engine. The side skirts. Ah, well, just about everything. Still, after 2 years that I own the car now, I get a smile from ear to ear when I look at the car. The other thing I'd like to share with you is that you know that in most cars that there is always at least one annoying thing? There ain't one in this car. Just nothing. If you'd decide on buying a similar car, then believe me, you'll gonna like the car too.

Here are some details about the Z-edition model:
Again, only 200 were made of it. 100 in red and 100 in black. Besides the regular edition, there were 2 other editions manufactured in Germany (Sportsline and racing) but the Z-edtion is the most sought after of all of them. That makes the car pretty special and even more special the older it gets.

Have a ride along with me and browse through the pictures on pages 2,3 and 4.

The items that distinguish the Z-edition from a regular model are:
* Came only in 2 colors: 100xblack and 100xred.
* 225/40 ZR18 tires on 8Jx18" OZ Superturismo F1 rims (ET37)
* Eibach sport springs lowering kit, lowered by 30mm
* High-grade steel polished dual sports exhaust
* High-grade steel door sills
* aluminium-look gear knob
* aluminium-look center console
* "Z-edition" badge with exclusive number (x/200) on dashboard at passenger's side
* 3-colored "Z-edition" sticker on the right rear of the car
* high quality floor mat with "Sport Line" text on driver's side
* high quality floor mat with aluminium plate on passenger's side
* special chin spoiler, painted in body color
* special rear underspoiler, painted in body color
* Double DIN Radio Sony radio/cassette/cd-combination

Here's a close-up of the Z-edition emblem that is found on the right rear side of the car:

2005-09-02: Bought the car
2005-11-02: Changed the marker lights
2005-12-20: Signed me up on CarDomain
2006-02-18: Added some info about the exhaust
2006-06-26: Middle damper of exhaust was worn. I replaced the middle damper with the factory one because I decided to keep the car in stock condition. If I would have placed an after market catback then I would have needed to cut parts of the so special, very sought after, rear lip.
2006-12-01: Placed the car in a 'carcoon'. I moved for 2 years to the United States and left my car in the Netherlands. Should be like a 'hibernation sleep' for 2 years with no added mileage, no rust and no wear!

That is some find, wow you've pickup a very rare & super clean S14. This a very sweet looking ride (5 Stars). Checkout my 450HP Fairlady Z32 (Slicktop) TT & tell me what you think of her. My car is also on the rare side for North America, being a true factory TT slicktop.
