This is my 1984 Oldsmobile Cutlass Calais with the Hurst/Olds package. This package includes Hurst's famous "Lightning Rod" shifters, special paint scheme with a stripe kit, 15x7 Super Stock III wheels with pinstriping, high output engine, better tranny and a low restriction dual exhaust. Right now this car has 125,000 original miles on the body and original 5.0L 307 V8 (High Output-180 horsepower and 245 lb. ft. of torque), 200-4R tranny with a factory 2400 rpm stall converter, and a built in shift kit, and Rochester 4MV 4bbl. carb. It also has the original 10 bolt rear end. It is a non-posi with 3.73 gears. I bought the car on April 15, 2002 from my friend. He bought the car in June of '01 from the original owners family. Before he bought it, the car was stored outside for seven years in California. That's the reason the paint looks like crap. I busted out the cat, removed the smog pump, the air conditioning, and put in a K&N air filter to boost performance. The original exhaust is still on the car (minus cat), but suprisingly it sounds really good. It's a little louder because the cat is gone, but it's not obnoxiously loud. I have a 45x4 JVC deck with Pioneer 4x10 2 way speakers in the rear, and a Rockford Fosgate 10" sub powered by a 200W 2 way MTX amp. As of Oct. 20, 2002 I replaced the fuel pump and in the process removed the air conditioner as well as the smog pump. The engine bay is much cleaner now! Update! Today, Jan. 27th, I purchased an LT1. It came from a wrecked Impala SS. It only has 48,800 mi. Hopefully, this will get me into the 14's and high fives or low sixes 0-60! I'll keep you posted when I get the motor in and the 1/4 mile times. Update! I could not get the LT1 to fit so I am selling it. Here are the specs: Chevy LT1 with 49k pulled from a '96 Impala SS. Comes with rebuilt 4L60E tranny with built-in shift kit and new torque converter, all belt driven accessories (belt is still on the motor), computer, radiator, cooling fans, air box (with MAF sensor), coolant reservoir, motor mounts and probably other stuff I am forgetting. Asking $2500.00. E-mail for more info. Well, since that's sold now, I decided to buy a new engine. I bought a 350 Rocket off of Ebay for $100. I brought it home and tore it apart. Then I took it to Borchardt's Speed Shop here in Milwaukee to have them build it. It has been bored .030 over, new pistons, new oil pump and timing gear set, Crane cam and new lifters, shaved heads with a 3 angle valve job and new valves, guides, and seals. Bad news, Borchardt's really knows how to fuck up an engine. They installed the wrist pins on the pistons to tight, and after 2300 miles, the motor couldn't take the strain and spun 2 connecting rod bearings! So all I have to say is MIKE BORCHARDT CAN SUCK MY DICK! Thanks for letting me vent.








Here are some pics of the wheels. These are the original 15x7 Super Stock III wheels. They only used these on the 83-84 Hurst/Olds and the 85-87 442.




Alright, I'm sure most of you have a very confused look on your face right now, so I'll try to explain how these shifters work. The one on the far left is the regular PRND3 shifter. When that shifter is moved all the way down, the car will only go up to 3rd gear automatically. When the middle shifter is down, it will only go up to 2nd gear automatically. When the far right shifter is moved down, it will stay in first gear until it moved up into second gear, the middle one into 3rd gear, and the left one into overdrive. Got all that? If not, try to use your imagination! :)






Here are some pics of the engine. I spent quite a bit of time cleaning and degreasing it (Simple Green Automotive Degreaser works great). Make sure you cover the distributor before hosing the engine off though.
