The rear end is an 8.75" that was pulled out of a 66 B body. I had it bead blasted and rebuilt with 3.55 gears. What was slick about this was the stock B body spring perches for that year are only a .25" inboard from an M body's. All I had to do was drill out the spring perches with a 1 9/16" hole saw. The 8.75" sat right in there and I kept the stock mounting hardware for the old 7.25". The stock rubber axle pads were also replaced with a set of poly ones from Espo. During this time the rear springs were also re-arched and a 5th helper leaf added.
The front suspension was completely rebuilt at the same time of the motor swap. The K-frame was removed, blasted, and powder coated. Solid K-frame isolators were also installed. By replacing the rotted out rubber bushings with these front end wander was greatly reduced, and the front frame of the car was made considerably more rigid.
Every new part was ordered from Moog, no cheap Auto Zone crap here. New upper/lower ball joints, new upper/lower control arm bushings, new pitman and idler arm, new 11/16" tie-rods, new torsion bar bushings, etc, etc. A set of cop sway bars were also added to the front and rear, along with KYB Gas Adjust shocks.
The icing on the cake for the front suspension rebuild. A rebuilt steering box from Steer and Gear. This is one of their firm feel boxes. This put a lot of fun back into driving the car.
These pictures were taken right after the motor was dropped in. Since then I've had a 2.5" dual system put on with 40 series Flowmasters that dump down in front of the rear axle. Also had the shop run a set of manual dumps out the sides right under the front doors. Sorry, no pictures of it up close, just the video on the first page.
