Well, just a quick page about 'other projects', etc.
This one is a 1969 Nova 2 door.
Bought locally as an abandoned race car - no front clip,no transmission, the 396 had frozen and popped out all the freeze plugs - but the 12 bolt 4:10 rear was intact, and body was not too rotted. not bad for 800 bucks.
after putting in new brass freeze plugs, installing a 850 Holley double pumper, and a 2 core radiator out of a 6 cyl - the motor fired right up, no leaks, no cracks or damage .
we rebuilt a TH 400 for it,9" 3500 stall converter, and installed, using the B&M Starshifter in the car (shift lever later broke, due to fatigue,so was replaced with a new one).
we never did have the bottom end apart, but did swap in a heavy duty valvetrain (LS6 pushrods, Crane aluminum roller rockers, etc). It has a big solid lifter cam in it, not sure the specs, we set the valve lash by 'guestimate' and let her go.
also rebuilt the factory 4:10 posi rear before hitting the track .
the missing front sheetmetal was replaced with the entire front clip off a 4 door 1970 we purchased for parts, note the 250 emblems still on the car.
car mostly ran a local 1/10 mile (run on one straight of an oval track ),best around 6 seconds.
quarter miles times of high 11, 12.0 at around 115-118 average.
Car would also pull the front end with only L60 bias plys and slapper bars (no subframe connectors),lots of torque and traction, wish my 79 hooked like this thing did).
Unfortunately, my brother spun it out (on the track, got wheelspin from oil or something),and crunched the front on the concrete wall.
no injuries, which is always a good thing.
we parked it for about 5 years while collecting parts for 'someday', however we sold it last fall to a local racer, and have moved on to our 1979 we've been running in the meantime. (pic below ).
