S.E.G. ANTI-SWAY/ROLL BAR for Toyota Starlet (KP60/61/621978-84).

TRDKP61's 1981 Toyota Starlet

As you may know, the Toyota Starlet was NEVER equipped with a rear anti-sway bar to begin with. For years I have searched far and wide, high and low from Australia, Asia (Japan included!), Europe and here in the USA for aftermarket anti sway bars for the Starlet but to my dismay I never found one, not even from Whiteline of Australia, CUSCO, TRD, TOM'S Racing, GAB of Japan. With my frustration and obsession to have one I decided to have a suspension company make one for me. I was turned down by a few due to the fact that it is a custom made and the cost was very prohibitive. Until, I bit the bullet I called SUSPENSTECH to push thru with the project. I had to shell out for R&D of the sway bar, organized a group buy from forum members and pleaded a co-member from out of State to use his Starlet as a test car for the prototype. It took 6 months from conception to testing, data acquisition to the final adjustment to the end product. The prototype anti-sway bar was tested in a track and was submitted submit to the abuse and rigors that it can handle to be sure that it was made to be the best. With the abuse done on the test car it damaged the internal parts of the Starlet's differential, the anti-sway bar handle did more than it was suppose to. Here is the comment made by the test driver, a co-member of the forum:

"I forgot how much fun driving can be!
So I STRONGLY recommend that anyone who loves their Starlet get a swaybar!

I am testing the one being made for the forum and my car is so much fun to drive now. It is just so much more balanced.
I thought the Starlet was pretty neutral of a driver before the bar was put on, but a amazed at the difference! Much more predictability, and ability to go into corners faster.

Don't think about getting one, just get one! You wont regret it.

Jason"

When using stock springs, having a sway bar is the best bang for the buck when it comes to upgrading your suspension, better than buying stiffer springs! You get the best of both worlds for a Street/track setup, a comfy ride with your stock springs and a more predictable control on the turns, without the anti-roll/sway bars that usually doesnt come hand in hand. If you are using your Starlet just for track I do suggest upgrading the rest of your suspension such as springs, shocks, bushings etc. The anti-sway bars will not make you a better driver but it will give you a better track time immensely. Your Starlet will take the turns like you are on rails!

This brand new Anti-sway bar has been powder coated to protect against rusts and is supplied with an installation manual and a supply Polyurethane bushing lubricant. Now there are only a handful of Elite Starlet owners sporting anti-sway bars, be included among the elite few.

These fender flares are the real custom fit flares for the Toyota Starlet not a generic flimsy fender flare that cracks on extreme temperatures or from te-27 Corolla off-shoot. These JD flares were designed from the ground up, it took 8 months from concept to designing to finally making sure the JD Fender flares was done right from the very beginning. This was not possible without the help of Starlet afficianados worldwide it was a group effort with lots of people involved. The JD Fender Flares end product formed flawlessly to every contour and angle of the Starlet's body. A product that every Starlet owner would love to have. A Starlet entree from the recent TORC (Toyota Owner's Restorers Club) annual event who sported these flares garnered rave reviews already. This is a limited run product and never was produced for mass production.
