Yeaaa I have this nice 1997 Toyota 4runner SR5 4x4 that has about 110,000 miles on it already. As you can see i recently removed the siderails along with the plastic stock mud flaps.... only reason why i did this is because it makes it look better or in my case makes it look more like an off road vehicle.

I am trying to get between 2.5 and 5 inches of lift on it... or atleast enough to get some bigger tires somewhere around 33 inches. I was thinking something like the toyo open country mud terrains or the BFG mud terrains.... Basically i am just tryin to get this thing lookin like a badass suv that is excellent off road. It already can out- dig half of my friends trucks but i want it to do even better in the mud and off road.

Only problem is that my dad is totally against the idea.... He doesnt mind the tire idea but he wants to put tires on before the lift and doesnt think that the lift will do anything at all besides make it easier to flip on the highway.

IF ANYONE HAS ANY EXPERIENCE WITH LIFTED 4RUNNERS OR ADVICE ON TIRE TYPES, TIRE SIZES, LIFT KITS, HIGHWAY AND OFFROAD CAPABILITIES, AND ANYTHING THAT WOULD HAVE TO DO WITH MY 4RUNNER PLEASE LET ME KNOW..... Hi Matt, I have a 98 4runner, and I just purchased a lift after much researching. I went with Old Man Emu (OME) a sub company of ARB out of Australia. The lift is between 2.5" and 3.5". Nothing big because anything bigger and you will need a differential drop longer break lines etc...The suspension does give you increased height but OME prides themselves on incresed suspension capabilities on and off road. Better control, less dive on breaking, less bodyroll on turns, and the ability to carry heavier loads. OME doesn't believe in going any higher because you loose drivability of your truck and you have to perform other mods to line everything up again. The OME suspension is much superior than the original equipment your truck came with. As far as tires I am only going as big as 265/75/16, equal to 32" even though many guys do fit 33" tires under the OME lift, but I still drive mostly on pavement so I don't need an extra 1/2" ground clearance if it means increased fuel consuption and the possibility of breaking parts of the IFS because the tires are also heavier. The OME lift + 265/75/16 tires = 3" to 4" of lift, enough to set your 4runner apart from everyone elses, except mine!haha. Just do a search for Old Man Emu suspension, that's how I got started. Good luck! Jason
