nacscars's 2005 Ford Focus
(not actual size)
2005 ZX3 S 5spd non-PZEV- Sangria Red with the optional A/C performance package!

Current modifications:

PERFORMANCE
- rear muffler (lunchpail?) cut off and replaced with straight pipe
- 205/60/15 Ohtsu tires
- Steeda Tri-Ax short throw shifter
- K&N Aircharger CAI
- vented fog lamp thingy for cold air intake
- VF rear motor mount

OTHER STUFF
- Passport 8500 X50 hardwired
- Reese hitch
- painted chrome grille trim black

Next to install: Draxas header/flex... if it ever gets delivered damnit!

Considering:
- KYB AGX adjustable dampers, with SVT or maybe Steeda springs, or maybe just the stock springs, I dunno yet.
- Trubendz 2.5" stainless exhaust
- Crane stage 1 cams
- SCT Xcalibrator 2 tuned for cams + egr diabled, wot alternator disabled, early fan activation, disable o2 sensor, etc...
- Cosworth intake manifold for 2.0, if they ever make one
- Some kind of throttle body or something

They only racing I've done so far was a couple of rallycrosses... and let me tell you, I think that is the most fun I've ever had in a car! Sliding all around, foot to the floor almost the entire lap...but alas, I think it is just too hard on the new car to keep it up. I'm going to leave future rallycrossing to the beaters.
However, I do plan on autocrossing in the 2006 season. I want to try to make every event this year. I don't expect to be competitive though, because I am not building a single purpose car like the Civic was, this has to be comfortable as well.

i just hate the look of that big ugly muffler and little tailpipe coming out the back! and who needs two mufflers? i'll probably get mine removed soon.

It got loud enough to hear it, but not annoying loud... instead of being nearly silent, you can hear the actual sounds the motor makes, and I think it is a fairly quality sound for such a cheap and crude mod. I would recommend it if you can't afford a whole system yet, but keep in mind I really don't think it frees up much, if any power. I paid just $40 overall for the a custom bent 2.25" pipe and chrome tip to be welded in place. Hope this helps.

hey i've got a question...did removing your rear muffler change the exhaust sound any? was it a good modification?
