A new development is that there is a new welder in the family. Not quite 13 and she TIG welds!
June 23/07
Had a busy day today. Tackled the drivers side inner fender. There was quite a bit of reconstruction needed. Fortunately, I manage to stay away from the compund curve areas of the wheelwell.. Bit of grinding needed, but I am definitely getting the hang of the TIG welder and now prefer it to the MIG.
After a bit of grinding to clean things up, looks pretty good!
One thing that I have been doing throughout the project is to re-cycle as much tin as possible. For example, the drivers side origninal door skin donated all of the metal used in the rear wheelwell. This is what is left. I like the fact that the metal gauge is correct.
Aug 1 ,2007- It may seem that not much has been happening lately. The fact is that I have been doing a LOT of welding and grinding in order to finish all the work done so far. Does not make for exciting pictures. I have also been distracted by the summer activities and work related travel. It does not look realistic to get her all back togther by xmas of this year. Perhaps in paint?
The sanding of body fill has started. This is not my favourite thing to do cause all I seem to do is put the stuff on and then sand it back off. I suspect that I am being a bit too fussy and making things too hard for myself. I have started with the rear DS quarter panel.
