So, what to do if you are starting with one of these projects where the shell has already sagged? Or if you have not been paying attention and you accidentally remove the rear clip from your car? Do not despair as there is a simple way to adjust the mess with just a few simple tools! The whole thing took a couple of hours and cost less than 20 bucks for everything!
Adjustments can be made with the doors closed as the trusses do not stop the door from closing. This makes for easy to control adjustments.
The adjusters are made from the angle iron from an old bed frame. The turnbuckles allow for vey fine adjustment. The upper and lower gaps can be adjusted independently.
The key to this system is the ability of each bar to pivot. I did this by using a single rivet at each end. The rivet hole will be easy to fill with the mig welder when I am done.
Since I had the floor out of the trunk, the rear clip had also spread out to the point where it was an inch wider than before. The same turn-buckle technology solves this problem.
