Well, the SAS is finally done!(8-1-08) It has been in the plans now for 2 years. 2 years of planning, researching, saving, and acquiring parts has finally come to fruition. The result is one mean offroad beast of a Bronco II.

It all started with a 1977 Bronco Chassis. She was the donor for various parts, namely, solid Dana 44 disc brake front end and Big Bearing 9" rear end.

Everything below the frame was pretty much trash, so it was all scrapped for new parts. Transfer case, suspension, drivelines, brakelines, Dana 28 and 7.5" rear......all gone!

T-Case: BW1354 Manual (Donor 1993 Mazda B3000) It was deemed that the stock BW1350 (over 300k) would not allow the flex needed for the solid axle. BW1354 was a bolt in swap. Drivelines were custom made.

Suspension: Cage Offroad Early Bronco. I've heard really good things about Cage Offroad. From what I've seen, I like it so far. Super soft and flexy. 3.5" Coils in front provide about 6" lift. Single Cage Nitrogen shock at each corner. I may go double shocks in the future. James Duff Zinc Plated Coil Buckets were welded to the frame at the proper height. Cage shock mounts were located through the inner fenders for increased travel. In the rear, Skyjacker 6" Leafs were used. No more blocks! 2" of wheelbase was gained, putting me at 96".

Axles: EB D44 and 9". These fit perfectly in the BII, keeping her street legal and very streetable. They are stuffed with the best "bling" products you can buy. 31 Spline Chromoly shafts from Yukon, Yukon 4.88 R&P, Yukon Superjoints, ARBs, Warn Premium hubs, and the stock D44 disc brakes. They should hold up plenty well to my 35's and V8.

I've had a chance to lightly wheel it so far. The pics don't even show the max potential of the articulation. Front bumper had to be trimmed 3" on each side, rear exhaust exits trimmed to clear new leafs, alignment, and a few other bugs. On the highway it is great....cruise at 70 no problem, no wander, no diving, no pulling. Just smooth and straight.

I had a chance to really hit a trail for the first time. Here are a few pics.

Thanks Rico! Actually just yesterday I was down in Moab and got my first taste of body damage. Unfortunately I ripped off a rear Bushwacker flare on Behind The Rocks trail! Hopefully a little paint work and a new flare will get 'er fixed right.
