Here are two 'stuck' stories- of course neither one are of me getting stuck tho!
1. After church i asked a couple of my buddies to go off roadin with me at 'the cut' in weddington. i drove my truck with a friend ridin with me and two of my other buddies rode in my friend scotts ford explorer. his explorer is stock, only all terrain tires. we got there and i pointed out to him 2 holes that i knew for a fact he couldnt make it thru, and told him to make sure to avoid those holes. anyways i went off down a trail and thought he was gonna follow me. a few minutes later he called and told me he was stuck- so i turned around and headed back to where i thought he was. he wasnt in that hole, so i kept goin- came around a corner and hes smack dab in the middle of one of the holes i told him NOT to go thru. His explorer was takin on water, and he shut off the engine. his exhaust pipe was submerged, and the truck was pointed down so i knew water was runnin down the exhaust pipe. i called one of my friends to bring me a towin strap (it was my third time off roadin and i didnt have a strap of my own yet) he brought it and i pulled scott out no problem- we sort of celebrated and then decided it was time to go home. didnt work that well- his explorere would not start, obviously cuz water had gotten into some part of the engine. two guys that were there told us that they thought it was water in the cylinder heads, that we would have to take out the spark plugs and just keep turning it over until it drained itself. we decided that was too risky that we would just try to have AAA do that or something. so i strapped him up again and pulled him out to the street. There we tried a little more to start it to no avail. eventually he realized he had to call his dad- who was extremely mad needless to say- and he came out. he looked at it for a while and tinkered around with it himself. we drained the air intake of water and tried to turn it over again. it finally came to life, and once it did it literally poured about 3 gallons of muddy water out of the exhaust pipe. in the end he only had to buy a new air filter and spend a lot of time with a shop vaccum suckin the water/mud out of his floorboards.
AND I FINALLY GOT A PICTURE OF THAT STORY^^:
thats keith in the back bailing out water with a water bottle, and scott wringing out soaked shirts from the back trying to keep water out. HAHAHAHAHA (sorry about the picture quality, it was a camera phone. i didnt have my camera that day)
2. about two weeks after the first stuck incident, the same friend, scott, called me up while i was studyin for an exam tellin me he was stuck again and he needed me to come pull him out (he went alone..... moron). he wasnt in water this time just thick mud. i went out there and thought it would take jsut a few minutes. right before i left my house i threw our shovel in my truck just in case. that ended up savin us- his explorer would not BUDGE just with me pullin it. he spent about 45 minutes to an hour just diggin about 10 inches of thick mud out from around his tires, i put some logs under the back tires, and after about an hour and 20 minutes he was free again. we definately got worried that i couldnt pull him out that time because by the time we finished it was pitch dark and it just wasnt workin for a long time.
ok so those are my two 'stuck stories'. (knock on wood)neither of them were me. i dont have pics of either one- the first one ill have someone try to send me pics they took on their cameraphone and put them up- the second stuck, well that was my fault that we had no pics cuz i had a digital camera in my truck but i completely forgot about it until i got home. it wasnt pretty anyways. hopefully this will be the end of my stuck stories- but i really doubt it.
Story 3.
Ok this is not a 'stuck story' its a 'i screwd up my truck off roading story'. OK so on christmas break (December um 22nd i think) i went off roading with some friends out to Pineville- not the place i usually go. (actually its in Lancaster, SC now that i think about it... past Pineville) i went thinking it was gonna be mostly mud like 'the cut' is. well i ended up goin with 3 jeeps (2 wranglers and a cherokee) and a nissan. i realized that was more of a 'trail' group than a mud group. i went anyways tho and it was a mistake. when we got there, about 10 minutes into teh trip the right side of my truck fell into a deep trench- it made no noise tho so i thought i was fine and kept goin. i got out to look at how deep the rut was and saw that my passenger side running board had been ripped off. i was ticked- im especially wondering how it got ripped off almost silently cuz if i had heard metal being torn off i would have stopped. anyways i was planning on takin off the running boards anyways, but i wanted to keep them in good condition so i could put them back on if i ever sell the truck- but now its all torn and bent too bad to fix. later that day i was on a very tight trail and had to turn around, and scraped up the driver side of my truck pretty good (from the door handle to about the gas cap). so basically it was a bad day of offroading for me. ill have pictures of it all up soon tho. check back for those.
note- i still didnt get stuck tho!!
