Well, where to start.....guess I'll intoduce myself, then get to the old beater, lol
I've been a Nova (and other X-body) nut since the late 80's when I bought my first Nova - a 1973 SS (L48 350,4 speed,F41,3:42 posi,no console).
Nice car, and my brother still owns the numbers matching car, with intent to restore down the road.
a long string of Nova's and others follows, some rough, some nice, some I still own , which I might detail in future updates.
Current project: this 1976 Nova Medalist special edition ( RPO Z78 ).
was purchased locally, and is an upstate NY rustbucket :-(
bought it for a winter beater to save my 1977 Nova Rally, but got entranced by the oddball special edition and gold paint ( which, incidently, my local Chevrolet dealer swears doesn't exist).
car had nice, solid floors and a great running 305 2 bbl / turbo 350 combo, so we decided to dive in .
got much done, with my dad's help , including (so far) :
- both quarter panels replaced with patch panels.
- both side outer wheelhouses rebuilt using the wheelwell lips from the original front fenders.
- new tailight panel cut from a junk 4 door.
- right side rocker panel repaired.
- two new used doors.
- pair of NOS front fenders (not installed yet).
- welded in bucket seat brackets from a 1976 SS.
not sure if we should have started on the car, with so much to do, but too late to turn back, so will forge ahead.
(see next page as we,hopefully, start down the home stretch)
will talk more later, about past and future projects, such as my 1977 rally and 1979 2 door Nova's, or my brothers collection (1973 SS,1974 SS hatchback, 1973 Nova Custom).
Thanks for dropping by, and drop me a note, always looking to hear form other Nova / X-car fans, especially those who appreciate the neglected 1975-79's .
