John’s Chevrolet Monte Carlo

  • Currently 2.5/5 Stars.

This car is the Full Monte baby. At first it might appear to be a stock car with nothing going on in it. At second glance you can see some stuff going on, an after panels are pulled you can see the gear that has earned this car 2nd place at 1998 Westeren Regionals, Zone 7 SQ CHAMP NOV 301-600, and a berth at the IASCA World finals.  The Full Monte is about going all the way. I am going all the way. No sacrifices made in the space or usability in the car using tomorrows hottest technologies.

I am all about sound quality. I don't have rims, or an intake, or NOS or any of that carp. Frankly I don't care about it. THis isn't a racer, it is a cruiser. If I wanna go fast I have a '98 Ninja ZX-6r that I jump on.  This is all about Stealth technology baby. Seattle Stealth.

I was so happy, I wasn't even going to compete at the show. I am pretty glad that I did. There were a bunch of HOT cars, and the import drags were really cool. If you ever have a chance to goto a major IASCA show do it. The quality of the cars are really up there and if you don't win you have a lot of fun. Me, Jeff, and Twan had a bunch of fun in Pomona. And me and Jay were on COPS (or some kind of show like that) We passed a camera crew as the police were chasing somebody and caught them. The Helicopter spotlight was on us for a couple seconds, it was cool.

It gets hot in the car, plus my Linear X computer fan makes noise and stuff. So we put it outside to increase the stealthness of the car. Maintain use of space, and flexibility of the system.  This is the EQT that I use for RTA testing. I also have water proof switches for volume, track, and pause. I use these for RTA and SPL testing. When I switch to SPL testing my front speakers turn off, RTA turns off the passenger side speaks. Also since I hit about 140dB SPL, sometimes higher, I need to be able to start and stop the system from outside the car. For Hearing reasons and for points reasons.

It retains all usability, and I don't baby it either. I'll throw stuff in the back. Hardly any space was used back here and I like to tell people that all my SPL comes from 2 JL8W6's up front in the floor

Well the Full Monte is all about going all the way. Yeah it is a movie about regualar guys turning into strippers. My car looks normal though, 'till you start stripping off panels    Once you start pulling panels off you see 4 JL12W6's in a fiberglass tub. The box was glassed into the spare tire wheel well. I only used a little over 2 cubic ft. The subs hit around 140dBSPL in a SQ car, not trying to be loud. At the time the box was covered with vinyl, now it is faced with pleximirror, and next week it will probably be something different. To the right you see my caps and extra line drivers (I had them and they looked cool at the time.) To the far right you can kind of see the first aid kit that was flushed into the side of the car.

The same carpet cover is in place to make it look stock.  Mirror is hard to take care of, so now it is back to just carpet on the box.

All of those speakers are in the floor. I am looking at putting my 5 & tweet in the dash, any suggestions? e-mail me.  I am also going to put my ZX450 inside of a ZPA0.5 heat shield, cheap  or I'm going to add a ZPA0.3 for my eights and another on my 5 & Tweet

I watch these on my Clarion 6" screen, but of course not while I'm driving

This is pretty nice for tuning, & It got me in the January edition of Car Audio & Electronics. I also have another EQT in my liscense plate
