This is our ZX, a rather rare car around here. The Z-cars from Datsun were never imported to Denmark. On the 8 of march 2008 only 6 280ZX was registered. When we bought it, it was a real rust bucket that maybe instead of being fixed, should have ended up at the junkyard. We had already spent several hundred hours of work on it, before we realized that this car was all too rusty. But now, of course, we just love it.
The rear end was changed with help from parts from several different cars.
4 of july 2007: We have decided to change from NA to turbo.
Turbo engine almost ready for swap.
The new turbo engine being mounted. By some mysterious reasons, this engine sits 1,5 cm more forward than the NA engine. I guess it has to do with the insulator on the new transmission
.
Running pipes for the intercooler.
In Europe, The Turbo engine in the ZXT delivers 200 hp. By mounting an intercooler we hope to gain 25 to 50 hp. The boost is raised from 0,5 to 1,0 bar by adding a boost controller to the wastegate actuator.
The fueldoor is from a Honda motorbike, it fits exactly into the hollow of the body.
50 mm wheel spacers at the rear, and 35 mm at the front was necessary to fit these 17"X 7½" wheels. The width is 225 front and 255 rear.Tyres of course are Pirelli.
Why a 2+2 ? well our three children loves a ride in the ZX as much as we do, so they would have been a little disappointed if we'd chosen to build a two seater. The two-seater is not very common around here, so I'm not sure at all that it would have been possible to get one.
New Nardi steering wheel just mounted. Together with the other teak stuff, it brings a little bit of class.
