Welcome to the 6/2004 Demolition derby truck page!
This is an 1981 Chevy Silverado 1/2 ton p/u. The original color was crap brown on the
bottom and a creme on the top. It was donated by C&C Lawncare, this was their truck
they pulled mowers and put grass and stuff in. The reason why he got rid of it was
because, the on of the butterflies in the carberator (yeah its that old) had come loose and
fell inside the manifold (305 engine). We got it home and found a freind who had a
quadra-jet laying around. My uncle also had some old chevy parts laying around that
would give the engine that extra help it needed ( it was only runing on like 4-6 cyl). He
gave us a IROC cam, lifters, pushrods. After about 4 solid days (drowning in grease) we
get in finnaly going. I get ready for the first test run.  I wasnt even
out of the driveway when BAM! out goes the rod throught the pan. The brand new cam is
now in three (3) pieces. My dad has an old freind who had a 351 that
had been sitting outside for 5-10 years. We got it home and swaped to a 4bbl changed
timing chain, cleaned it all out etc...
*The interior*
Was a mess to say the least, butts everywhere, so much dirt you couldnt see the
floor. We killed the entire interior, dash, carpet, seat, ebrake, glass, all door panels, heater
assy, and anything that can catch fire.

This was the first truck derby that had been attepmted in our area, so naturally there were
lots of rules. We had to mount the bed and the cab down w/ 4 4x4 steel flats. As w/ many
derbys, gas tank had to be mounted in the bed and securly mounted. A milkcrate gets
mounted to the floorboard, so the battery cant go anywhere, then the battery gets fastered
to the milkcrate. We had to build a cage inside to protect the driver, one of my Sponsors
helped with that a lot!

*the outside*
All breakable stuff is removed, taillights, grille, etc... Runningboards are killed, mirrors,
bumpers are cut flush w/ the body panels.
*the Paint*
I was indesposed when the truck was painted, my uncle and dad started the black, when i
got home, the day of the derby, my uncle Painted all the flames, sponsors, #s. The hood
scoop is the heater housing, that was in the interior. The paint was drying on the trailer
when we were going to the derby...thats how close we cut it!

This is a product of 3 months working from 12pm-12am almost everyday. It doesnt seem
like it would take that long...but you will always have unexpected problems...
