Check out the updated pictures on the REPAIRS.. you're going to like this one..

This is Vin 941, A Turbo Charged Project Delorean. It was approximately the 441st Delorean Produced. I spoke to the original owner and he explained that he added the Turbo after purchasing the vehicle new in 1981 as he felt it was underpowered. (everybody felt the stock engine was under powered which it was with only 130 horsepower for nearly 2800 lbs.)

This vehicle also has a flip up gas cap on the hood which is somewhat rare in the Delorean world. Only the early 1981s had this. Notice that my other Delorean does not. The odomoter shows just over 31,000 miles. I suspect that this may not be the true miles judging by the wear on the car. The interior however is very nice. NO CRACKS on any of the vinyl dash, and the seats are nice. It has black interior as opposed to the more common grey. (See my other Delorean)

I am just beginning this project. The biggest problem is the damage that occurred on the front crumple tube. This occurred most likely due to someone over driving the car. I recently completed replacing the exhaust gaskets. the motor runs very nice, and has a water cooled Turbo. The frame in general has no rust. I'm going to show some pictures for now and begin tracking progress. Overall, the car is in very nice shape and driveable. See the list of needed repairs below.

IN MY DRIVEWAY__________________Rear View: 941 is on the left.

Lists of items to be repaired are as follows:
1.) Crumple Tube (see pictures)
2.) Front Fascia (see pictures)
3.) Small dents (two dime size on driver fender, not observable in pictures.)
4.) Radio (doesn't work)
5.) Heater (Fan sticks on one speed)
6.) Air Conditioner (Compressor works, not cold)
7.) Fuse Box (Has melted number 5 fuse needs all replaced)
8.) Exhaust Gasket (Repaired 12/5)
9.) Brakes (Work, but, sticky)
10.) Head Liner (Sags)
11.) Transmission (Sometimes won't go into 1st gear)
12.) Cooling Fans (Need replaced, don't work, wiring bad)
13.) Power Antenna (doesn't go up)
14.) Cooling System Leak (just a small hole in a hose)
15.) Passenger door alignment (closes, not aligned properly)
16.) Driver Window (Needs motor replacement)
17.) Both Windows (Need new switches)

The car is very driveable and going to be a very fun project.
It is still to be determined if we will remove the body in order to repair the crumple Tube. (Turned out, not necessary) The frame itself does not have rust. Here are some pics. In the rear view you can see it sitting next to my other Delorean vin 4984

Latest Update: As of 2/17/06
1.) The exhaust gasket leak is repaired.(500.00) Replaced both exhaust gaskets.
2.) The rust Crumple Tube was replaced. (Cut the old one out and put a new one in without taking the body off the frame.) The rest of the frame is in good shape with no rust.
3.) Front and Rear Fascias repaired and repainted, Engine Louvre Cover Repaired.
(Cost of Crumple Tube: ($1300.00)
(Cost of Professional Body Work, Crumple Tube Installation, Fascia Repair and Install, Install Springs and shocks, Install Radiator and New Fans, Labor paint and miscellaneous parts: ($1700.00)
3.) Put new Eibach Springs on.. along with all new shocks.
(This wasn't really necessary and ended up being a bit spendy but hopefully will give it a nice ride.)
Eibach Springs: ($399.00), PJ Grady, or Delorean Motor Co.
Shock and lowering Kit: Midstate Delorean ($295.00)

Update: As of 9/8/06
1.) The new low power cooling fans are installed and working perfectly. Cost: ($299.00) Delorean Parts Northwest.
OEM NOS original radiator is installed, parts cost: ($179.00)
2.) The fuse box has been replaced. ($89.95) Delorean Motor Co.
3.) Relay Kit installed: ($226.14) Delorean Motor Co. includes fan fix module.
4.) Ran into one expensive fix. Tried to remove a dent on the passenger door. (Not so easy) ended up buying a new door for ($1000.00) uh ooh.. and what a job to get the windows, wiring, and motor all changed over not mention what a pain it is to get the door lined up properly.
(Oh well)
5.) New trailing arm bolts: $74.95

Update: 4/29/07
Got back onto this project today. Installed a new passenger side power window motor ($259.00) (ouch), and a new high power 140 amp alternator (239.95) specialTauto, and a new fuel sending unit ($149.50) PJ Grady.
Needs: 4-wheel alignment. New Headliner, Air-conditioner charged. New Mode Switch for proper heater/defrost function.

Thinking about adding custom tires and wheels to trick it out, but, this car is nearly ready for the road.

The main thing I need to fix the shifting linkage. That is next on the list... It is driveable as is though and will go into all gears once you learn the intricacies. This project is FUN, and challenging.

I've had someone else do major work, and I'm doing the smaller more straight forward jobs.

Cost of repairs to date: about $6800.00 including Parts, Various Labor, and Shipping of parts.
Should be worth a bit when it's complete.

Note, so far about $1800.00 of this could have been avoided.
Didn't need new shocks and springs or a passenger door.
I'm predicting about another $2,000 into this car to get it where I feel confident to drive it anywhere. This does NOT include the custom tires and wheels. I am going to buy a set of custom tires/wheels to swap back and forth on both my Deloreans.
UPDATE: 9/30/07
941 went on her maiden voyage to the Pacific Northwest Delorean Clubs Blarney Ball Rally on Sept. 28th, 29th, and 30th in the Dalles Oregon. She ran beautifully over Satus Pass and down the Columbia Gorge.

TURBO CHARGED PRV-6 ENGINE (See my other one for stock engine pics)

Front Crumple Tube (check out the new crumple tube)

Rear Frame (upper left, prior, lower right after repair. (Not bad eh?

Front Fascia (upper left damaged, repaired is lower right)

The only problem with the fascia is that it leaves too much space on both outside edges. I haven't decided why but I think this fascia has been redone before.
CHECK OUT FRONT AND REAR SPRINGS and SHOCKS.
Front Upper Left, Rear Lower Right

Check out these cooling fans, they are quiet, and move alot of air.

INTERIOR

Learning a lot on this project. I've got the inside looking nice and starting to be tempted to buy a cool stereo. If you can hang with me, you're going to get to see a very pretty Turbo Delorean.
Thanks for looking, Dale.
