BabyCore's 1949 Plymouth Sedan

this is my car when i bought it

I bought it when i was 13 for 1200. That's a lot of lawn mowing and weeding for people, let me tell you. The body was fairly straight but pretty rusty, the seats had already been recovered but no carpet or headliner or in the rear "door" panels. There is no back doors but for lack of a better term. I did all the body work myself and had it professionally painted.

I am trying to get all the parts together to build the ol flat head six. Not really sure what is gonna happen under the hood in the long run but ill figure things out.

I want to put it on the ground, airbags and whatnot. Itll be awhile before that happens though. Getting wide white walls and some rims in the spring.

Hey man way to go.Keep it up. I did about the same thing, except that my plymouth is 11 years old and came with a 350 in it, but the body was worse. Dont ever give up, and come check out my site.

Hey dude, great car, especially for a first one. I have a 49 Convertible and 49 Sedan. I am Hot Rodding the Convertible and have a 331 Hemi in it. The Coupe was going to be a parts car, but it is in pretty good shape so I plan on restoring that next. Anyway, I'm just down the road from you in Kirkland, so if you have any questions give me a holler. Also check out our group on Yahoo http://groups.yahoo.com/group/49-50Plymouth/ and also Bill Wards site at http://www.oldplymouths.bigstep.com

hey there
my first car was a 49 just like yours
the only difference is that 30 years ago then it was stolen when I was 19-20 and yesturday while looking for cars I called an ad and went to look at another 1949 2 door just for the kick of it. guess what? after careful inspection and matching the numbers it is my original car the very one I hadn't seen in 20 years...needless to say it is my garage right now.
let me know how you are fairing and if you need any direction
and if you come a cross any one else that is doing mods to car such as motor swaps.
good luck to you
and by the way back in 1975 I paid 1,200 for mine as well
it may not seem like a lot now but back then 1200 was like 12,000
enjoy
