The rebuild has started. I plan on using these pages to keep the pics updated.
Aurturo's Superior Paint and Body is the only place that I take my cars and trucks too. While his shop has expanded over the years and now they do a lot of insurance stuff, he has a crew working for him to handle it. Arturo still handles the custom and Corvette paint himself, along with his brother George doing the body work.
New stiffeners have been epoxed in place
The fiberglass front bumper is being given a nose job.
The back end is getting smoothed out as well. Fixing what the previous owner had done and filling the T-top rack mounting holes. I just could not stand them damn holes!
Looks like someone had a little problem with the exhaust before.
Nothing that the new Tru-Flex bumper can't take care of though.
George is Th'Man when it comes to body work. He pays close attention to the details most over look and does it the ol'fashioned way, BY HAND. Here you can see him scraping the old paint off with a RAZOR BLADE! This way he does not compromise the factory primer. Down here on the Gulf Coast, the humidity can ruin a paint job if the fiberglass is allowed to absorb it.
My boy is checking out the gaps, to make sure they are just right while George keeps on scraping....and scraping....and scraping.....
