Terdbow page!
The turbo install has begun!! After well over a year of waiting and collecting parts, the turbo officially was bolted on 10/26/07 at probably around 3:00am.
The kit is a Powertech Imports kit that has been heavily modified to fit my own needs. For example the kit was originally set up as draw through, and I converted it to blow through. The turbo is a Precision GT3251. As of spring 2008 I am running 10psi, hoping for more as the year goes on and my car gets fixed.
Mechanic Kittah sez "Needs more boost!"
Official log of what happened when during this winter long project:
October 26, 2007
• Hello Kitty decal (the most important thing of all of course!)
• Precision GT3251 turbo
• Protech turbo manifold and downpipe
• Tial 38mm wastegate
• ATP Turbo Oil Inlet Restrictor
• DEI Thermotec Exhaust Wrap (on manifold and downpipe)
November 7, 2007 everything is installed aside from the fuel pump, fpr, and fuel rail. Car is running and will be taken out to be tuned tomorrow!
Some may wonder why the hell this installed took almost two weeks when the whole Spec V community is obsessed with installing turbos as fast as possible. One reason only: getting it done right, looking great, and properly IS WAY MORE IMPORTANT than trying to have the bigger e-penis and see who can install it the fastest. Looking at some of people's engine bays make me laugh... exposed wires, shit routed all ghetto like, stuff forced to fit (I'm the only person I know of that chopped up the front bumper as much as I did to get the intercooler to fit without force). And I know more than one person that had stuff go wrong after they're "wonderful" 24 hour installs and some even gave up on the car very soon after they installs. When you rush, things aren't done right, things are overlooked, and yeah... so what mine took two weeks. At least I know every little detail was looked over, checked, and rechecked and my car won't have nearly as many issues. And that's my two cents.

Well, the car is tuned at 6.4 psi (wastegate) and has been running very well! Only issue so far is that the cheap ricer vacuum lines I bought at Pep Boys can't withstand vacuum, so tonight we are replacing all the lines with fuel hose. Then out to the highway for more tuning! Tomorrow I hope to hit the track if the weather holds up and have my first ever 1/4 track experience in my Spec!

bleh, it rained on saturday so the track canceled all racing. so instead i took my car out for some pictures (see the exterior page 2) and then for a drive on the highway once the road dried. 8.5 psi now! All tuned, and the car is running like a dream! So much fun, but also scary... considering I added over 100 hp to the wheels since the last time I drove it.
February 9, 2008
Kinda went awhile without an update... finally the clutch and flywheel are going in, mostly because the tracks are opening soon and I want to be able to drive my car! Now the boost can go up, and my car will actually go somewhere under throttle and boost, haha. Also changing out my gear oil to Redline synthetic, and hopefully that'll eliminate some of my 3rd gear grind. I am really hoping I don't blow up 3rd gear... :(
As you can see, I did a dandy on the stock clutch. I have a good comparison pic of my new clutch plate vs. the stock one, and you can really see how much it is burnt. I am so amused by it, just very cool to see. I learned a lot about my car during this install :)
March 13, 2008
Well, I went to the track last night, and for some reason the clutch was still severely slipping... then at the end of my 3rd run, the flywheel flew off, and I got a nice tow home on a flatbed. We figured out that I made a dumb decision when installing a used flywheel that was unbalanced, and the bolts ripped out slowly until they finally totally fell at a 101 mph at the track. The transmission is fine, but the flywheel is not, nor is the crank...

Red "spaghetti monster" gone! Nice black vacuum lines now that actually won't fail!
Precision intercooler smiling back
We had some fun with a Sharpie while the bumper was off. I also wrote all over random interior parts that are normally covered up. One thing that I did that is kinda a joke to myself is some Ataris lyrics on the passenger A-pillar under the cover that says "I'm going to tell the world about my baby CAR, Starla is her name oh yes indeed."
Alcohol injection
Just though I'd do this is it's own little section. I am running an Engine RunUP Stage 1 kit with a 150 PSI Cooling Mist pump. Alky is stored in a Cooling Mist ShurTank in my trunk, held in by my 4pt trunk brace and backseat.
Basic Engine Runup kit.
ShurTank fresh out of the box. And Mechanic Kittah who has been dutifully overseeing this whole project!
Tank mocked up for install. Car is totally torn apart as you can see
Trunk setup pretty much completed.
Unfortunately Engine Runup closed down, makes me sad. They had a very good alky injection kit :(
