2001 Mazda Protege MP3. As some of you may or may not know, this vehicle is one of the first "factory tuned" vehicles. It came from Mazda (Japan) with several upgrades, taking the name "MP3" for the first car ever to include a MP3 player. The MP3 Protege also benefits from an upgraded ECU, suspension equipment, lowering springs, sport spoiler, 17" wheels, and obviously the vivid yellow color that grabs many people's heads. Probably most surprising about this car is the fact that the Mazda MP3 came from the factory with a "body kit" different from other Protege's. This "tuned" body kit comes with side sills, a rear bumper valance, a wind splitter, Fog lights incorporated into a sleek looking bumper, lowering springs (yes, came stock with a 1/2" drop), and a well chosen spoiler completes the factory body kit. The suspension was also tuned by Racing Beat before it hit the showrooms. Racing Beat (of California) added a rear and front sway bar and Tokico shocks and lowering springs to every Protege. They also added strut bars to reinforce handling.

My new project, a 2001 Mazda Protege MP3, already has an aem cold air intake, frt and rear sway bars, frt strut tower bar, 4 wheel disk brakes, 17in rims wrapped in Toyo tires, 5 speed, and performance exhuast, and tinted windows.
