This is my 1993 Mazda RX7 I bought the car from the original owner in april of 2004. It had 98000 miles on it the engine had been rebuilt 15000 miles before I bought it and the turbos, vacuum lines, ect. were left alone, only one of the turbos was working so I left it stock for 7 months when I was in Iraq. I got back and was trying to decide what kind of performance mods I wanted to do. My brother has a 1993 r1 car and he blew his apex seal at 50000 miles and so I said screw this i'm going with a piston engine. What better than an LS1 right? I just spun a rod bearing so right now the car is in the process of getting a 383 stroker kit put on it, just another excuse to make it faster.....

The exhaust is a custom Y-pipe, through 3" V-band connections at the collector smoothly transitioning to a 3.5" single outlet through a borla XR-1 multi core racing muffler.

Here is the aluminum radiator and the engine in the car. Looks like the engine came in the car.
-Other engine mods-
>LS6 stage II heads
>Cam-232*/230* Duration @ .050 .585"/.595" lift 110LSA
>CNC ported exhaust manifolds for higher flow rates than stock. Consistantly show 10 rwhp on the dyno which make them compairable to shorty headers.
>Ported throttle body that shows an average of 8rwhp
>Custom cold air intake which is made of thin wall aluminum. 3" diameter tubing that pics up outside ambient temperature from the left front brake cooling duct. Comes with a 90 degree rubber elbow for mounting to throttle body, k and N filter, clamps and mounting tab for the front frame rail.
>Underdrive pullies
Mods needed for engine installation
>Mod. engine subframe
>Bump steer correction
>Transmission brace
>Tubular torque arm
>Aluminum driveshaft
>Wiring harness modification-All unneed circuits are removed, harness repairs completed, rx7 chassis connections are simplified and labled, OBDII port installed, new circuit wires added.
>Battery relocation-Passenger side storage bin. Custom aluminum battery mounting bracket, 8" ground cable, 10' battery to starter cable, starter to alternator cable, and retaining bolts
>SGI rx7 speedometer correction
>The stock RX7 fuel system needs to be upgraded to provide adequate fuel pressure for higher hp LS1 applications.
-255lph pump
-Adj fuel pressure regulator
-Pre cut stainless steel braided #6 lines with AN fittings
-Inline fuel filter
-Snap on fuel rail connector

The car actually weights less than it did with the 13b powerplant. 2,831 lbs with full touring interior, sunroof, complete bose sound system and 1/4 tank of gas.

LF:746 RF:677
LR:675 RR:733
Total front: 1,423lbs

The car has suspension specialties springs that drop the car .8" in the front and 1.4" in the back the drop is almost perfect the the size of the wheels but to prevent the tires from grabing the fenders still need to be rolled.

Hello Chris,
This is Ben (benjaminboosted), Im the guy with the red supra who won SOTW and I saw you had signed my guest book. I too have an LS1 FD, and would love to chat with you. I bought the car already swapped, but am new to the RX-7 world, so it'd be nice to get a little input from someone who seems experienced about it.

Please shoot me an email to benjaminboosted@yahoo.com. I really appreciate it!

AWESOME CAR!!! You've done a great job with it, I like the wheels too. Come check out my ride if you get a free minute or two. It's nothing special, but it's what I got. Keep up the good work, Lata.
