Here is my other car that i recently picked up. It's an 1989 Chrysler Daytona ES (they are called Chrysler in Canada for some reason) It's a 2.5L Turbo 1 with the A413 auto. I bought this car locally off of a guy who's family bought the car brand new, so technically i'm the second owner of the car. It had 144,000Km's on it when i bought it (that's about 89000 miles for you US guys) and was in immaculate shape except for the passenger side fender being pushed in, but i got that fixed. My plans for the car this year, are to install a front mount intercooler (non intercooled right now) and run 14lbs boost, 5 speed standard swap, new rims and tires, poly bushings and lowering kit and paint the silver ground effects red to give it a cleaner look.
The only things mechanically i've done to this car since i bought it was regular tune up and changed all the fluids. I also had to replace both lower ball joints, because it had a bad rattle in the front end and they were both pounded out... gotta love the roads here. I also installed a two way Compustar car starter/alarm system in it.
I installed a stereo system in the car as soon as i got it, because the previous owner had a system in it, and obviously took it out... i bought all Alpine equiptment.
Here is the list-
-CDA 9885 Head unit.
-SPR 13S Type R component speakers.
-SPR 57C Type R two way speakers.
-SIRIUS reciever for head unit.
-MRP F550 Alpine V power 4 channel amp, 90 Watts RMS x 4.
-MRP M450 Alpine V power mono amp, 400 Watts RMS.
-Alpine Type R speaker wire.
-Alpine Type X amp wiring kit.
-Stinger directional twisted RCA's
-10" Type R sub (dual voice coil)
-Bass Works sealed box.
After installing this system, i never want to do another one... what a PITA it is running all the wires!
Anyways here are some pics-
Can you believe that's the original paint after 20yrs! It's been garaged it's whole life. (for some reason that one pic makes the car look like it has a different colour front bumper, which is weird)
Pictures of my two Turbo Dodges togather.
Mounted under the passenger side seat.
My rear 5x7 speakers installed in the stock location and the head unit put in.
So much for trunk space! I used the smallest sub box i could find, because i wanted to still have room in the back and be able to close my cargo cover. I think the system sounds awesome. It's the cleanest sounding and i couldn't believe how much the one 10" sub pounds, but i guess the hatchback has lots to do with that.
Here is an update on my Daytona...
I repainted the entire car the original flash red, and had all the original Shelby decals remade that whould have came on the Shelby models. I also made a custom hood scoop.. I installed some original 16" Pumper rims with Falken P205/50/16 rubber.
Here are some pics of the hood build. I fabricated the center section of the scoop out of three pieces of 18GA colled rolled steel which was then welded togather solid (hundreds of spot welds to prevent warpage) and then ground down flush and then a skim coat of fibreclass filler was put down to fill any pin holes. Then it was sprayed with Dupont high build primer, which was block sanded and primed 3x.
Here are a few more random pics of the car as it was getting painted. This was my daily driver last summer, so i had to work on it everyday after work and drive it in primer. It was painted in Dupont base/clear, which was wetsanded and polished.
And here are some more pics of it all painted... I also intercooled it and turned the boost up to 14PSI, but i ran into some transmission problems (Auto blew up) so it is parked for the winter and i'll be doing the 5 speed swap, which i wanted to do anyways (A555) I'll have it ready for next spring!
Thanks for looking.
