This was the most painful part of the restoration in my opinion. I put alot of hours into prepping the car for paint. I did alot of modyfing to the body like shaved antenna, rear side marker lights, smoothed the tail light caps into the quarter panels, custom frenched in license plate with solenoid latch, shaved all emblems, Shelby Charger side ground effects cut and extended to fit on the Rampage, Shelby Charger front nose and turbo buldge hood, Rust repair and lots of blocking and primering! The paint job was done by my Dad using PPG Global base clear which was wet sanded and polished. The purple colour is from the 04 PT Cruiser and the Pearl White is from a Toyota called White Pearl Crystal.
This was the only really bad rust on this Rampage. I had to cut it out and replace the metal on both sides in the same spots. Custom replacement panels were made and welded in.
The panels welded in and the whole quarter panel stripped of the old paint.
The whole underside was sandblasted as well.
after being sandblasted it was acid etched and then sprayed with Chassis black paint. I also flipped the rear axle in the process, and added the 5 lug spindles as well.

It was blocked and primered about 3x to make it straight.

This was the final primering, and is now ready for paint. Notice something missing in this pic? I had to drop the motor and trans again, because of some motor problems... long story, but at least it's all good now.
After getting wetsanded with 600 grit paper it was rolled in the paint booth..
It got sealed with PPG epoxy primer, then it was spayed with the white tri-coat bottom colour, and then masked off for the purple, but black base coat was sprayed on first to give the purple more depth.
