As to the question below, which v8? If swapping from a 223 to a 292, the only thing needed is a v8 radiator and the metal crossmember bracket that the motor mounts go on. The hoses are hard to hook up with the I6 radiator but I did it, just have to go between the crank pulley and fan with the bottom hose. Also the frame mount welds to your crossmember because the v8 is shorter. The transmission from your I6 will bolt up to the y-block bell. That is of course 4spd to 4spd and 3spd to 3spd. If you change from a 3 to 4spd regardless of engine swap, they aren't the same length. Also when I installed the sbc, I took a lwb driveshaft(only to keep my original one)and cut it the right length. Cut from the front(trans side) and only cut the welds if you can, the yoke will slide inside the driveline and you don't want to just cut it off. I just measured it out, got it straight as I could and arc welded it. It held up to the 65 or so I was driving and I couldn't feel any vibration.
