Here are the first pictures taken of my latest pick: this 1997 Peugeot 306 GTi6. These cars ship stock from the factory with 125kw @ 6500rpm and almost 200nm of torque at 4000rpm, from a normally aspirated 2.0 DOHC 16 valve engine, mated to a 6 speed transmission.
For those unfamiliar with Peugeot small cars, the first thing you should know is that the suspension, steering and handling are taut, direct and highly communicative, with fantastic adhesion. Passive rear steer virtually eliminates the old front drive tendency toward understeer, creating a nice neutral balance toward lift off oversteer - which can be great fun.
Whereas many cars require lowering and stiffening of the suspension geometry to make them handle, these cars grip and turn fantastically right out of the box - its almost difficult to imagine making improvements thru aftermarket modifications.
More pictures will follow : )
Here we are at 75,000km - sitting pretty (2000km since purchase).
