THIS IS MY 1970 PLYMOUTH SATELLITE, FROM WHAT I HAVE FOUND OUT ONLY 53 OF THE 1970 SATELLITES WERE ORDERED LIKE THIS ONE, IT WAS PURCHASED THROUGH A SPECIAL ORDER BY MY DAD IN 1970. HE WANTED A SLEEPER WITHOUT THE ROAD RUNNER FLASH. IT HAS A 383 H.P. MOTOR, AND A 4 SPEED. IT HAS THE ORIGINAL B-5 BLUE PAINT. AND ONLY 48,000 MILES. IT SAT FROM 1977 UNTILL 1999 WHEN MY DAD PASSED AWAY. I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO HAVE MY MOM LET ME SHOW IT AND EVENTUALLY SIGNED IT OVER TO ME. I HAVE ALL THE ORIGINAL PAPERWORK THAT CAME WITH THE CAR INCLUDING THE PURCHASE ORDER, BUILD SHEET, WINDOW STICKER, BRAKE SHEET, AND A TON MORE PAPERWORK! I EVEN STILL HAVE THE ORIGINAL TIRES! WHEN I GOT THE CAR IT HAD STEEL WHEELS WITH COP HUBCAPS. IT KEPT THEM UNTILL THIS LAST SPRING WHEN I PUT ON THE WELD WHEELS AND ROAD RUNNER HOOD. I HAVE NOT HAD TO DO ANYTHING MAJOR TO THE CAR SINCE GETTING IT. I DID PUT 3 INCH EXHAUST ON IT THE SAME WAY MY DAD HAD IT, OUT THE SIDE. I HAVE THE ORIGINAL PISTOL GRIP SHIFTER, BUT THE CAR HAS A HURST SHIFTER WITH A PURPLE #4 POOL BALL ON IT, LIKE WHEN DAD HAD IT. I TRIED THE PISTOL GRIP OUT BUT IT JUST DIDNT FEEL RIGHT, IN HAND AND HEART.
DAD ALWAYS SAID HE WAS GOING TO TAKE THE CAR WITH HIM WHEN HE PASSED ON, SO WE HAD THE CAR LASER ETCHED ONTO HIS GRAVE STONE, SO HE KINDA COULD TAKE IT WITH HIM.
I TAKE THE CAR TO CAR SHOWS AND OUT FOR DRIVES ON NICE DAYS.ITS ALWAYS NICE TO TALK WITH CAR PEOPLE THAT REALIZE WHAT A RARE CAR THIS IS. AND ITS ALWAYS A PLEASURE TO TALK SHOP WITH OTHER MOPAR PEOPLE!THE SECOND PICTURE IS OF MY SATELLITE WITH A 1973 CADDY HEARSE I HAD FOR A SHORT TIME. IT WAS PRETTY COOL TOO. 11-29-07 JUST THOUGHT ID UPDATE THIS BLOG. AS OF LAST DECEMBER I NO LONGER OWN THE SATELLITE. YEA I KNOW.... BUT SOMETHINGS ARE WORTH MORE THEN A CAR. (BELEIVE IT OR NOT) ANYWAY, LAST DECEMBER I WAS OUT AT MY MOMS HOUSE AND SHE WAS ASKING ME TO WORK ON HER OLD JEEP. ITS RUSTIN AWAY AND HAS ALMOST 200,000 MILES ON IT. I REALLY ENJOYED HAVING AND SHOWING THE SATELLITE IN DADS MEMORY, BUT AFTER THINKING ABOUT IT FOR A WHILE I DECIDED THAT SINCE MY MOM HAS DONE A LOT FOR ME AND MY FAMILY IT WAS TIME TO GIVE BACK. AND SEEING HOW ILL PROBABLY NEVER HAVE THE MONEY TO DO THIS AGAIN, WHEN I GOT HOME THAT NIGHT I TOLD MY WIFE THAT I WAS GOING TO SELL THE CAR AND BUY HER A NEWER JEEP. SOME OF YOU MIGHT THINK IM NUTS DOIN THAT, BUT AFTER DAD PASSED AWAY I SEE WHAT REALLY MATTERS IN LIFE. CARS (EVEN NICE ONES LIKE MINE) COME AND GO BUT YOU ONLY HAVE ONE MOM. SO I PUT THE CAR ON EBAY LAST DECEMBER, IT DIDNT HIT MY RESERVE THE FIRST TIME IT WAS ON. AND I ALMOST CHANGED MY MIND, BUT IT WAS THE RIGHT THING TO DO SO I RELISTED IT AND ENDED UP SELLING TO THE GUY THAT WAS HIGH BIDDER ON THE FIRST AUCTION. IT TOOK ME TALKING TO HIM ON THE PHONE FOR A LONG TIME TO CONVINCE ME HE WAS THE RIGHT PERSON TO GET THIS CAR. HE SOUNDS A LOT LIKE MY DAD. I ENDED UP GETTING ENOUGH OUT OF THE CAR TO BUY MOMS NEW GRAND CHEROKEE AND SOME LEFT OVER TO START BUILDING A NEW CAR FOR ME AND MY SON. IVE POSTED IT ON HERE TO. ITS A LITTLE DIFFERENT TO SAY THE LEAST. ITS A '65 CORONET WITH A STRAIGHT AXEL FRONT END AND IM PUTTING A 383 WITH A SET OF CHRYSLER LONG RAMS IN IT. SHOULD BE PRETTY KOOL! HOPEFULLY ILL HAVE IT ROADWORTHY BY NEXT SUMMER.I ALSO ADDED A PIC OF THE CAR THAT ON DADS GRAVE STONE. THANKS FOR LOOKING !
