The WORLD's Crappiest header...
I ordered the OBX racing 4-1 header from protegegarage.com. Well needless to say that it was "lost" for 6 weeks extra in shipping and as soon as It finally came in I installed it. I ran 3 inch stanless pipe back to a magnaflow high flow cat and the rest of the way back to a JDM N1 Muffler with the titanium blue tip. Sounds great. Back to the header though.... I had to heat and bend the bottom so the bottom flange did not sit in my oil pan. It was 2 inches off! I got it all to work but then driving back from Charleston, SC the weld at the 4-1 collector blew out and droped the whole pipe out from under going 80 down the highway. Flames and smoke everywhere. So i had to weld and brace it all up the way around. The header sounds and performs great but I do not recomend this header unless you want nothing but problems. Since I fixed it I've had no problems. Update to that about 2 months later since the last fix to the worlds crappiest header it is in the shop a second time for breaking lose at the 4-1 collector again. i caught it this time before it dropped to the road below. I am having 4 triangular braces welded at 90 degree angles and hopefully this will work. Anyone looking into buying this header I will repost and let you know how this works, i recomend if it dose work just do it before you put it on. Here are picks of it after the first fix so you can get the idea and look how well that "stainless Steel" held up.
Here are the pictures after less than one month...

Here you can see the company tag says high quality but yeah...

These are right after driving it home from the first repair. Crappy weld but the guy had to do it on the spot.
Where the bottom flange had to be heated and bent down 2 inches so it did not sit in my oil pan. You can see where the bend was along the top edge of the pipe.
UPDATE:
Today SEPTEMBER 25,2007 I get the OBX R Racing phone number (650) 873-8800. So I call. A lady answers the phone and transfers me to RAUL (I don't know how to spell it). Well I tell him all the problems. After he asks for the warrenty card I told him in that in the 6 week wait that it still did not come with a warrenty card. Well then he tells me to go find it. At this point he is getting smart with me! I told him to go find the cadllic escallade that I am sure he dose not drive, in the parking lot. You can not just make it appear. At this point he is getting all uptight and starts yelling at me. So rather then making a comment that I know I should not have I handed the phone to my wife. Well he yells at her then and tells her "Go take a drink and a break" instead of handling the problem. He is the most disrespective representative I have ever delt with. He has no respect for customers which is one thing but obviously none for women which is a whole 'nother ball park. This company is the biggest piece of sh*t ever! How fitting that their motto is "SHIT IS GOOD!". Do not believe go to their website. OBX R Racing Sports Obviously if they can sell you sh*t and make money off of you then that is good for them! WARNING: DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!!
Today SEPTEMBER 26, 2007 I call Eric at protegegarage and he is real helpful and gives me their contact at OBX and is having Ken call be back. Great. He even guess where it broke off at. And those warrenty cards did not come around until about 9 months ago. Finally we are getting somewhere...right? Their contact is Peter and their new warehouse's number is (510) 568-2244. Well i get ahold of this Peter. Well he basically tells me that I would have to just mail it back to them and wait until they determine the cause and then see what happens weither they will give me a new one or make me pay for it. Well then i tell him what I had to do to get home and that there was no warrenty card. Well basically too bad. You are suppost to "stop where it breaks take it off there and mail it off and wait for a new one" WOW I am so glad that people do not need their cars these days and also they will not mail you one out until you return yours and they figure out what they think happened. And OBX said "we sold thousands and I mean thousand of these and they have never had one break" contrary to the ones that Protege garage have sitting there. So just waiting on protegegarage. Hopefully they can help.
Update September 28, 2007
I got the header fixed. Welded four braces around the collector and pictures to be posted soon.
Hopefully you can get an idea how much of a pain this header has been.
