UPDATE! As of 05-19-06, The 01' is getting ready for another summer and another NMRA season! We just got it back from the shop after installing a Kenne Bell 1.7l Twin Screw Supercharger, MRT 1 1/4 inch drop springs, and Stewart Warner Gauges. We also had the paint buffed out. The Kenne Bell is the 9psi Intercooled kit. Thanks to Tim Barber of Hagen Ford and The Barber Shop! We took it to Mid-Michigan Motorplex on 09-09-06. Best 1/4 mile time is 12.5 @ 113 mph! Averaged 12.7 @ 108 mph! Previous best of 13.9 @ 104 mph. Check out the new videos at the bottom of Page 1!

This 01' GT belongs to my wife. It was 14 second Wild Street winner at the 2005 NMRA races at U.S. 131 Raceway in Martin, Michigan and has an extended family of 2 94' GTs and an 87 GT.

So here's her story-

It was May of 04'. The car season in Michigan was into full swing, and we were looking for a replacement for are tiring summer cars- our beloved 76' Pontiac Grand Prix(pontiacfan7669) and our also loved 96' Monte Carlo. I was crusing the car lots one day and came across this black 01' GT at a local dealership that sells cars for private owners. I told my old man about it during a discussion at our work. He told me to let it go and to keep saving and waiting, along with future expenses and college education blah blah blah. Well, I decided just that, to let it go and keep giving the old GP the TLC it so despritely needed. Few days pass and I see the old man at work again, he says "I saw that GT, and I like it, you should get it". The rest unfolded from there.. We went over and talked to the dealer who said the gentleman selling the car was going through a divorce(this ain't the first time I've bought a car under these circumstances). He gave us the price, which was about $15,000, which wasn't all bad, but we decided it was best to push this gentleman in his horrible situation. So the dealer called the guy with our offer, and to our suprise, he took it. It was about $12,500 with tax and title. She was ours. Read on....

With just 8,000 miles on it, it had every option, including the less appreciated automatic. It had leather, 6 disc in dash CD Changer, and all the other bells and whistles included in the Premium Package. We took it home with the most innocent of intensions. Yeah, that's bullcrap. But to get to the fun stuff, we had to get this by my brother. You see my wife wanted the GTO when it came out that year. Hell, I even contemplated with getting one. But my bro is a Ford man at heart, and when he heard this, he just couldn't accept it. Him and my wife went back and forth from dusk till dawn about this subject. When my brother came back from Pennsylvaina for a visit, we pulled up to our parents house in the 01'. He smiled and simply said "I won".

With that taken care of, it was time to kiss up and see if he could get a fire started under this car. The reason for this is my brother was not only the Mustang go-to-guy for me, he was a contributing editor to Mustang Times and was working for a friend of his covering NMRA and Fun Ford. I asked if he was interested in "putting the car out there"(for parts from big names in the industry). He said maybe and that he would look into it. Not long after, he nailed it! It was a man he had just become friends with on the circuit. His name was Scott Hoag, the owner of Mustang Racing Technologies out of Commerce Township, Michigan. He was testing a new exhaust system and was looking for coverage and a mule car. That was the first modification we got. A JBA H-Pipe and MRT cat-back 3 inch exhaust. It was only the beginning...(Continued on Page 2)

Hey man nice Mustang I love this year and they are even better Supercharged. I had a question is mid 14's a reasonable expectation out of a stock auto GT? I am looking for a newer nicer car to replace my Saturn. At the moment my SL2 is making about 170hp at the crank (up from 124 stock) and can manage a very high 14 second quarter. The issues with it is the cams I am running don't like the cold weather and sadly I need a daily driver and weekend warrior car hence my interest in the GT's. The money to power ratio in the Saturn is lopsided in the wrong direction. I see that the Mustang also can manage 26mpg (if you behave) and runs 87 gas. That is a nice selling point. I am also sick of the plastic body rattles. Do you have any advice? Again great car!
