WILMINGTON PORSCHE CLUB EVENTS
August 5th 2006 Porsche run to Lake Waccamaw
10 cars and 18 drivers/riders (there's actually 11 cars in the in the picture, since we temporarily picked up one as we came around the last corner in Southport to the waterfront).
Based on the meeting at Dale's Restaurant on Lake Waccamaw, it looks like we
have a consensus to continue meeting the first Saturday of every month at Artisan
Cafe in the Mayfaire Town Center. So, the next meeting is:
When: Saturday, September 2, at 9:00 AM
Where: Artisan Cafe,
980 Inspiration Drive
Mayfaire Town Center
We're still working on the logistics of the Wilmington to Wallace Fun Rally, and
are now persuing some other options for where to meet in Wallace. It was getting
a little complex to work out the Mad Boar Inn, so we'll try to propose some dates as
soon as we have more information. But, it will not be Sept. 9 as originally planned.
There had been some discussion of joining the british car show at the battleship the
first weekend in November, but since that would conflict with the Lighthouse Cruise,
we decided not to persue that option.
The Lighthouse Cruise is the first weekend in November, so if there are some in the
Wilmington area who plan on going, we should consider getting together and driving up
as a group. Depending, we can discuss changing the date of the November meeting.
We have asked the Azalea Festival if we can organize a car show in conjunction with
the Azalea Parade and the Festival Board is supposed to consider that and let us know.
A proposed venue is Airlie Gardens. If that develops we would probably plan a rally and
dinner, as well, and make a whole weekend out of it.
That's all for now. It's great to see how much interest there is down here and I'd like to
ask everyone to do what they can to keep it going. For example, we'll need a steady
stream of ideas for events to keep events coming, and, in particullar, we'll need more
volunteers to help organize things. I think we have a lot of possibilities for events since
we seem to have some really good driving back roads in this part of the state to work with.
Thanks to those who made it this weekend, and see you next time.
