Rare 1971 Dodge Demon 340 GSS, Came with Six-Pac (GM)setup, but removed due to carb issues and orginal owner trashed the manifold. Now sporting single 4-barrel carb for easier calibration.
This is an original 340 numbers matching car bought oversea in the Clark AFB, Republic Philippines back in 1986! Now being built to suit my needs. It was orginally Blue and had bench seats, but got tired of the old look.
Motor is .030 over 340, 202/160 fully max ported heads, 10.5 compression, CompCam solid(roller specs), 1.5 Crane Roller rockers, Weiand Xcelerator, Holley 930CFM, 4.30 gears posi, Pro-built 904 low gear set, 4200 stal.
Motor has gone as fast at 11.40@118 mph in Hawaii Raceway Park with old setup (508 Hydraulic Purple shaft cam) and with 5.13 gears (too steep for the combo) was rev @ 7800 when crossing line! Redid engine and now have more cam. Using a solid grind with fast acting ramp to take advantage of .904 lifters. Has approx .578 lift with 1.5 rollers. Trying to dip into low 11's with new cam and then 10's once I install W-9 heads and Crossram intake!
Next in line is to install my rare Edelbrock STR-12 X-RAM intake, W-9 or W-5 Head conversion, TTI Step Headers for W-2, dual fuel injection, supercharger, Vintage AC, 6-speed Keisler tranny, 1.6 rockers, rear disc brakes,cal-tracs, mini-tub with 18x12 custom wheels and new carpet, now that the front windshield is sealed. Will become a true hi- tech G-machine setup.
Car just got repainted and strip down to metal again. Deeper black. Need to install the autometer guages and work on interior next. Also, install the rear tire 18x12 7.5 BS.
6/12/2008:
Upgraded to M1 single plane intake and Demon Carb 850, TTI Ceramic Polished Headers. Also, solid Comp cam. Made car more streetable for now. Running tighter converter 3000 stal and 3:55 Posi. Will test combo at track with new Dana 60 4:56 Detroit Locker next month and 5000 stall converter. And finally put on the 18x12 rims
Car is fully street legal and registered.1971 Dodge Demon 340 GSS
