MAY 16, 2008
Bought a "new" 2007 Chevy Silverado to tow my Camaro to the drag stip in
Kansas City, MO.

Adding $400 a month car payments
to my budget was not a smart thing to do.
I got it the last day of January 2008.
I've put on 3000+miles around town since then.
The recomended break in towing is suppose to be done @ 50 mph for the first 500 miles.
It was a hard 215 mile trip to KCIR @ 50 mph & the return 215 miles wasn't any easier.

Gas prices are also going to kill the idea of doing this on a regular bases.
Plus with little to zero overtime I have no cash for improvements to my 1991 Camaro.
So the performance was more of the same from last year.

With no over time available I can’t afford to make any more changes to the car…
But I was able to convince my wife to let me take our 16 year old son to the
1/8 mile track @ Pacific Junction, IA and let him drive in a drag race for the First time…..
He turned 16 in June 2008.
He had so much fun, he said this won’t be his last time.
It wasn’t too bad driving the short track…especially since I have only been down to
KCIR’s ¼ mile track once this year.
Not only that but it’s good practice for my son….
The shorter track meant he had 10 times to practice his
burn out…staging…& launching
MAM’s Rolling Thunder 1/8 mile is about 35 miles away….
So it was cheaper on gas too…..
Plus the drive time was only 30+ minutes instead of 3 to 4 hours one way….
He was giving me some shit about his 16 year old reflexes being faster
than his 49 year old Daddy….
So please note that he didn’t have any Reaction Times below .252
My Reaction times were:
.032
-.126 oops RED LIGHT
.067
.014
My 4 passes are first….
My son’s 10 passes are next…

It was a sad day in the neighborhood.
My neighbor sold his Kenny Bell supercharged 1999 Mustang GT
It would run 13.0 second 1/4 miles easy.
It ran a best of 12.88.
Plus it has a show car paint job & looked beautiful under the hood.

Can't tell if I was driving or my Son, either way we were no match for
that Kenny Bell supercharger he was running 8.5 with never ever cooling down.
We were cooled off and only running a best of 8.89
