The Fun Continues: It's now 2006
The local 1/4 mile track (Nebraska Motorplex) is now perminately closed.
April 8, 2006:
MAM's 1/8 mile Rolling Thunder drag strip.(The only track close by)
Rolling Thunder actually had the track well prepped.
All 10 passes had 60' times under 1.98 with the best @ 1.925 sec.
This was with street tires.
Compared to last years 60' times of 2.4 & 2.5 sec.
With the only update being a fresh oil/filter change the car pulled it's best 1/8 mile time & speed.
8.800 sec @ 77.84 mph * Fastest time beating last years 8.822 sec.
8.804 sec @ 78.43 mph * Fastest speed beating last years 77.88 mph
No changes to the Camaro since last year. Hoping to make the 2.5 hour drive to Kearney Raceway Park on April 22 for some 1/4 mile action.

There's good news & bad news.
The good news is that it was a beautiful day & my neighbor was able to join me with his '99 Mustang GT for the 2.5 hour drive & a fun filled day of 1/4 mile drag racing. The bad news is that day time racing in 80 degree temps really slowed my car down. Plus the Mustangs new headers & 4.10 rear gears really put him out in front of me. He also got rid of his cats too.
He was making passes between 13.85 & 13.99 He also hit a new top speed (100 MPH)
I added one of those TPIS mat relocation kits before we drove out but it didn't seem to help a whole lot.
All my passes were around 14.2 & 14.3 with a best of 14.12
May 12, 2006
I traveled 3 hours to Kansas City International Raceway (KCIR)
to do some Friday Night street racing in cooler temps.
My best pass was 13.975 seconds @ 97.43 mph
After exchanging e-mail last winter with a Camaro owner who did 12.9 with a L98 camaro I followed his advise & installed a Meziere Electric Water pump.
After comparing the temperatures between April 22 & May 12
different tracks but simular weather conditions.
I have found that the electric water pump did help some.

Had the rear end rebuilt with a Motive Gear master bearing kit & changed from 3.23 to 3.42 rear gears. Capped it off with a Summit heavy duty differential cover. Then drove the 3.5 hours to KCIR & did some 1/4 mile racing in 95* temperatures.

A cool front was moving through the area, but I was too tired to make the 3.5 hour drive to KCIR so I went to the 1/8 mile Rolling Thunder track @ MAM. (It's alot closer)
Came up with my very first 60' under 1.9xx
and a new best 1/8 time.
Long cool downs + Iced down the plenum on all runs.

July 15, 2006
It was a HOT Sunny July day. It only got to 96* instead of the 105* that was forcasted.
I didn't make any changes to the car, but My Neighbor wanted some company as he drove out to Kearney Raceway Park 1/4 mile track to test out his new Kenney Bell Super charger.
Traction seems to be severly limited @ KRP... I couldn't get anything better than a 2.05xx
60' time today or when were there in April either.

6:00 -- 95.0 -- 30.07 -- 34% ---- 2.099 -- 14.190 -- 97.61
These were the 4 best of the 10 passes I made today.
My neighbor's 1999 Mustang GT had a best run of
13.53 @ 104.88 mph.
I could beat him for the first 60' the he'd blow by me @ the 1/8 mile mark.
He's really having fun getting even for me beating him last summer.
July 22, 2006
Got the itch so I went to the 1/8 mile Rolling Thunder track @ MAM.
No more cash to make changes to the car.
So this is as good as it's going to get until the temperatures get cooler.
Long cool downs + Iced down the plenum on three runs.

After a disappointing summer of 14 sec 1/4 mile passes,
I made the 3.5 hour trip to KCIR to enjoy the Friday
night street races in some cool fall weather.
And I was rewarded with a new personal best of
13.659 @ 97.84
I also trapped a new top speed of 99.28 mph
& then later beat it with a 99.35 mph
No changes were made to the car.
My 60' times were hanging in the 1.95 sec or slower range
all summer long, so I went into debt & bought some relocaton brackets, LCA, PHB, & TA but they haven't arrived yet.
Not sure how much good they will do since all of tonights
60 foots were 1.898 or better
Long cool downs + Iced down the plenum on ALL 5 runs.
TIME - TEMP - BAROMETER - HUMIDITY - 60 -- 1/4 -- MPH
06:59 -- 67.1 -- 28.85 -- 45% ---- 1.882 -- 13.663 -- 98.86

October 13, 2006
These old TPI Camaro's just love cold weather.
Not even Friday the 13th could keep me from
passing up another chance to race in 48* to 53*
temperatures @ KCIR.
And I was rewarded with a still another new
personal best of 13.555 @ 99.12
I also trapped another new top speed of 99.53 mph
No changes were made to the car.
My relocaton brackets, LCA, PHB, & TA have arrived but I haven't installed them yet.
So I'm still running the stock suspension with 140,000+ miles.
Not sure how much good all those new parts will do since all of tonights 60 foots were 1.866 or better.
With a best 60' of 1.835 on street tires.
Long cool downs + Iced down the plenum on ALL 4 runs.
TIME - TEMP - BAROMETER - HUMIDITY - 60 -- 1/4 -- MPH

October 20, 2006
My neighbor with his 1999 Mustang GT wanted to beat me
some more with his new Kenney Bell super charger.
So we went to KCIR for some Friday night street races.
And I finially made it to triple digits
13.591 @ 100.26 MPH
The car's race weighed was 3620 before I installed the Spohn torque arm, the UMI relocation brackes LCA's & adj PHB now it weighs 3660 ( it added 40 more pounds).
The guy who told me about the electric water pump
told me not to install all these but just to change
to poly bushings.
Well Ya gotta learn from your mistakes right?
UMI said I could gain .1 of a second on my 60' times.
Yet I'm still in the 1.8's and
Too close to the 1.9's .
I don't think I'll ever beat my best 60' of 1.835
on street tires.
Might have to try Drag radials for better 60's
Long cool downs + Iced down the plenum on 3 of 7 runs.

Went to KCIR --mid to upper 50* temps --
Sunday races noon to 4:00--
No more changes this year !!! I'm broke.
I think this is as good as it's going to get unless I mod the engine for more power.
Made 10 passes & only one of them was not @ 100 mph
This might be the last outing for the year.

Went to DYNOSPORT the dyno shop in Lincoln NE today.
Was given the opportunity to make several base line passes.
The best one produced...
239 RWHP with 345.1 max torque
He ran a dynojet performace evaluation program on my best run
and the torque numbers were a little lower:
239 hp with 324 max torque.
