My suggestion - Pick out a muffler. Forget price, brand, etc. All you need to know is: long = quiet, multiple chaimbers = growl, short = loud, large (diameter around)= deep. And any of those combinations. Such as a Flowmaster type of muffler that is of long design will be quiet with a growl. A Cherry Bomb design will be loud with a midrange "raspy" tone. You get the idea. The volume of your exhaust will be more effected by your muffler that your cat or test pipe. Get a muffler that fits the tone and looks that you want. If you want a deep tone don't get a test pipe (smaller diameter than cat). Gut the cat instead. Not trying to discourage you in any way, but trying to help keep you from making a bad decision and then have to buy a second muffler or whatever. By the way, I don't know you laws on whether you get smog (sniff) tested, but the gutted cat or test pipe will make you fail. Just email me at eddie_rourk@msn.com if you need some more help.

Thanks for the comments. The test pipe didn't do much for HP, but gave the car a nice raspy sound. The muffler, I'm not sure of the brand, but it came from Mienike. You could get one that's the same for a lower price on ebay. Look for "N1" or "Fireball". Should be the exact same style and size. Get the muffler welded on first, then decide if you like that "pippidy poppy" sound. If you do get a test pipe off ebay or go the cheap route by taking you cat off and just "clearing" or "gutting" the insides out with a long screw driver or something. Bust all the honeycomb stuff out and you should be there.
