My 84 Chevrolet Caprice Coupe is a rare bird amongst the hundreds of thousands of Caprice's made. My car started its life out as a gift for my Great Aunt in 84. The car was only driven in nice weather and pretty much sat with no miles on it for a few years. My Grandfather purchased it from her in 1995 with 45,000 miles on the odometer. He used the car as his daily driver until October 2005. Its been through multiple upstate N.Y. winters (10 years worth) and was put to good use by my Grandfather. Luckily he takes care of all his cars. The car as of 7/29/07 has 98,880 miles on it, so its still relativly low mileage for an 84. I bought my Grandfather an 03 Mercury Grand Marquis because the Caprice was getting to be to much for him. I was given the car in trade because he didn't think he could get much for it. I have as of right now only done a few things to the car.
The most obvious upgrade was the wheels. A set of 20inch Daytons courtesy of Ebay. Tires are 255/35/R20 Wanli (?) I bought them for there kick ass tread pattern.
Next up was a total custom exhaust system done by Broadway Services, a performance exhaust shop that does phenominal work. Custom bent to my specifications: Straight 2 1/2 pipe split after the trans into two 50 series flowmaster mufflers, followed by a set of chrome Camaro SS tips spaced 1/2 inch down from the bumper.
Finally the stock AM/FM dial radio had to go. I replaced it with a Pioneer DEH-p80mp deck. I could go on for days with it's specs, but the point is, it sounds great. I replaced the rear deck speakers with some "Pyle Drivers". They sound cheap, but the magnets on the back have a 5 1/2 diameter on a 6x9 which is insane. All in all, the car sounds good enough until I get my 2 12s in the trunk.
