These aren't my pictures, they are from the previous owner. I will get some when I get a chance.
I installed gabriel rear shocks and I have monroe struts that I am installing this week onto this Golf.
The p/o had ebay coilovers on it which would slam really hard and the struts don't seem to work at all. So I bought these oem equivalent shocks/struts shipped to my door for under $80 brand new.
I plan on putting this Golf on the road when my Impreza dies, which may be soon I fear.
Well this car is now on the road and driving and not because my Impreza died, but because it was killed!(I got rear ended!!!).
Anyways I got a new windshield installed for 236.07 $5 tip. I got a spare knuckle with good hubs swapped on at a shop because I couldn't get the nut off the tie rod link(it kept spinning) for $70($69.??). I put my radio from my Impreza into this, I cleaned it, washed it, vacumed it, windexed it and armoralled the interior. I also swapped in a rear wheel cylinder from my 89 golf because my rear passenger side bleeder valve snapped. Also the drivers side caliper had a snapped bolt as well and I got a rebuilt one from autozone for $60 &18 core charge.
So Far here is the price list on this car:
RX-7 Traded for Golf:
RX-7 tow $100
RX-7 parts $400
Knuckle Swapped: $70
Tow from Shop Home: $40
Rebuilt Drivers Caliper: $60 $18 core
Brake Fluid: $3
Windshield: $237 5 tip
Dubspeed Rear STB: $75
Good Mechanic Checkup: $20
Total Into Car: $1524.00
I need to buy a battery, wheels, alternator bolt and I have alreayd ordered a bunch of stuff from autohausaz.com
I am getting new wheel cylinders, rear wheel bearing kits, rebuilt passenger side caliper and some temp sensor o-rings.
I have a new set of Falken Ziex 512 195/60/14 tires and valve stems waiting for a nice set of rims. I am either looking for a set of Zanvoorts of Teardrops. Right now I have Falken Ziex's on Snowflakes.
Also I have a set of Neuspeed sport springs and I think I am going to Install them even though it will blow my stock shock replacements. I can't stand to stock ride height and springs on it right now. We'll see what happens though, for now it is my daily driver and I think it'll be on the road at least all summer long.
