This is the engine. I have had the same block since 1981. It is a 4 bolt main 350 small block Chevy. During the most recent rebuild, 1984 / 1985 (while the car was in the bodyshop), the block was bored .030 over. The heads are currently Chevy camel hump heads with 2.02 intake valve. (old school - 2.02 fuelie heads LOL). Hey the 80's was a long time ago.
This is the engine in 1984 just before I pulled it out to send the car to the body shop....

Back from the machine shop, ready for assembly.
I decided to paint it black. The chevy orange was clashing with the orange of the engine compartment.
Below is a picture of the engine in 1985. I had M/T valve covers on it. They originally had a wrinkle finish which I stripped off and then polished the covers. After running them on the car I did not like the amount of oil that would blow out of the breaters at higher RPMs, even with baffles. The problem seemed to be that the breathers were mounted directly over 2 of the rocker arms. As you can see in the later pictures (from 1989) I had changed over to Moroso valve covers. They positioned the breathers between cylinders, i.e. NOT directly over the rocker arm pairs but between them. Works much better.

and below this is the engine in 1989. This is how it is now, except much duller. It has sat in my garage since 1990.

From 1981 until 1984 I had a Munice 4 spd transmission in the car. In 1984 I came across a killer deal for a TH350 that was rebuilt by Hurst (yeah , it seemed weird to me too). Anyway I was thinking that as I was building a stronger engine, the 4 spd might be too harsh for the car. So I picked up the TH350, put a manual valve body in it and didn't look back. Well...until now, 20 plus years later. I am going to be taking out the TH350 and going with a 5 spd transmission. I wish i still had the Muncie....i cannot remember what happened to it. I still have the Hurst Competition shifter for it though....so if I come across another Muncie.... LOL.
When I installed the new TH350 trans, I of course needed to replace the clutch and flywheel with a torque converter and flexplate. Both pieces are from B & M Transmissions. The converter is a Super Holeshot. I do not remember the size but have it written down somewhere and will post it later.
In 1988 I blew up the Intermediate Sprag. Evidently running a manual valve body on the street is hard on this piece. So I replaced it with a TCI or Coan (can't remember which) heavy duty one.
