What parts did I buy?

Here is a little overview of the parts I've ordered. In summary I ordered 12 (as of April 03, 2009) times because I made other decisions during the process. So I was hesitated about the rear side panels or I recognised a demage which was followed of additional parts (bearings, piston rings ...)

The first delivering included new front side panels, front fenders, complete new brakes (without  drums for the rear or disks for the front axle - they are fine)

...and the rear fenders, hood and some other smaller parts

Then I recognised, that I forgot the liner. It was demaged and dirty after the sand blasting. I want it the original as I could get. There are a lot of firms, who can deliver it but in one piece. EDs liner is made out of three pieces (the liner itself, the piece around the back window and the posts with the area around the windows on the side) and only one firm had it. So I ordered it there

Another order was the rear side panels. I decided to order that parts after the sand blasting too. The rust was at the spots I expected but more extensive. There are smaller parts to repair the wheelhouse but the larger parts (to see on the pics) were not that expensive.

Some more parts... That's all.

Another delivery of nice parts. New disk brakes, logos, chrome and stainless steel goodies, sealings, rubber parts. I think I have to make some more pics of the parts between the pics above and the latest order.

March 18 , 2009 - I struggled some weeks with myself because of new wiring harness. At least I ordered a new one for ED and today I got my package :) I'm happy with it and hope, the installation goes well. Some other parts were with it too ;) Of cause...

March 28 , 2009 - The fact, that the shock absorber on the right front wasn't able to get off the bracket, I had to order a new set. So I ordered a set of regular lenght and - why not? - a set of shorter one. And I had luck on eBay. I got this great tachometer with shifterlight for only 45 Euro. It's brand new!

July 2009 - the engine blew up so I had to buy another engine fast ;) On eBay I got a 44HP engine with 1300cm³

Now I think, I already have all parts I need.

September 2009 - Thought wrong. After teh 'new' engine was in place, the transmission sealing leaks. To fix that, I need to take the engine out again. So I decided, to fix the all original engine again. For that, I had to order some new parts again.

Hi. I've got my 66 Bug's engine almost rebuilt, but I could use your advice. I put the piston rods on the crankshaft today, but I can't get the crankshaft to seat properly in the case with those tiny dowels. I can't get it to engage the distributor drive gear. I'm SO close. I just requested friendship with you here on the site.

Great job. Scalloped paint jobs were awesome in the 80's and all, but you did a really great job with that car! Makes me miss my air cooled vw's...
