I was working under my car, trying to get the front bumper off to get started on the turbo and the jack gave out. I heard it breaking and I managed to slide out a little bit, but the cross member landed on my head.I looked around and realize I wasn't dead. No one was home and Mike had just left, so I just started screaming for help. My girlfriend happened to call right after it happened, but I didn't know it was her on the phone. I just answered it and started screaming for help. I tried to hang up with here and call Mike back, but she was still on the phone and I didn't know. Eventually, my next-door neighbors heard me screaming and ran outside. They got the other neighbor and managed to lift the car enough so I could roll out from under it and then they called 911. They medi-vacced me to University of Penn Hospital where they ran all kinds of tests. I was waiting in the emergency room for about five hours, but I was last priority, because it apparently wasn't as bad as I thought it was. They eventually gave me two staples and sent me on my way. The side of the head that wasn't stapled had a big patch where the hair and skin had been ripped off and we later found it still sticking to the street. We also found some hair and skin on the bolt on the front cross member from where it had landed on my head (where the staples were needed). The staples came out about a week later, but the side where the hair had been ripped off took much longer to heal. During the first week, it started to scab and became bubbly (like cheese). I was unable to wash or cut my hair for weeks because of the scabs and it took a good month for them to go away completely. Still have the scars though.
