This is my loved merc, my drift machine! I've done some mods and am so happy with them that I'm going to continue spending money on it!
Here you have a video of me and my car drifting MercDrift.wmv. Hope you enjoy!
Firstly the car was stock. With a 2.6 liter 6 cylinders and 160BHP engine I had some sattisfactions, it sounds great and with its quite low weight (1270 kg) the car is fast enough to get rid of most of my opponents xD. Though, the suspension was SO soft that I installed four Koni Sport shocks.
My driving skills have grown with this car, I started practicing things like e-brake, heel and toe,... At this time I used to go to mountain roads, and although the suspension and steering wheel (it was truck-sized!!) sucked I could go quite fast.
Then it was when I really got crazy about cars, I started watching Keiichi Tsuchiya drifting and practicing on wet roads. Still with the car stock I managed to achieve some drifiting techniques like shiftlock and powerover, faint combined with lift off, and so... I was really doing great progress!
Doing this caused a bit of stress to the wheels :p

Now I was able to crush most of drivers on the streets, but my Merc definitely slowed me down because of its high profile tires and still too soft suspension.
So I decided to install -40mm lowering Vogtland springs, C class MB 16" rims and Goodyear Eagle NCTS5 205/50/R16 tires.
But the car was lowered too much and the tires were wearing out with the front wheel arch, so I had to modify them too. This is how they looked.
Since this changes the car got completely different. Its reactions was much faster, it handled much better, drifting was much easier. The only problem is that the car sometimes kisses the ground xD, so you have to take care.
But there was a problem yet, the enormous steering wheel! I bought a 63mm deep dish 350mm diametre suede Sparco Monza steering wheel.

The difference is awesome. Now drifting is piece of cake!! Soon I'll record more videos with the new setup.
I hope you enjoyed Merc as I do. Bye!
