Well, this is my '73 AMC Javelin AMX Clone. As with the rest of my vehicles, it is a project car. At least this one runs and is driven on occasion. Actually, the guy I bought it from used it as a daily driver for 10 years.

I spent all of my teenage years trying to get my father to give me his '72 AMX, which he bought off the showroom floor. He drove it for many years and then let my older brother and sister drive it. My sister blew the motor, and my brother had an accident with it. The car has sat since 1985.

I was reading through the Thrifty Nickle (a free classified paper in TN) when I found the ad for this car. I couldn't get to the phone fast enough. It described the car, said that it came with extra parts and was only $1700.

The guy was a truck driver and was out of town for a couple of days. He told me where it was and said I could go look at it and decide if I liked it. So at 10 PM, armed with a flashlight, I drove 30 miles to go see this car. I loved it. For the price, you couldn't beat it. I called him back and asked to meet him as soon as he got back into town.

When I went to see and drive the car, I was super excited. Me and the guy drove around for about an hour. I explained about my fathers car and that I wanted to fix them both up and show the cars together. He thought that was great and agreed to let me make payments to him for the car.

I couldn't wait to pay it off. As soon as I did, I drove it everywhere. You wouldn't believe the amount of comments that I got on this car. Every time I stopped, someone had something cool to say about it.

I even drove it to a car show in Ohio that were spotlighting Javelins and AMX's that summer. It was about 400 miles each way. I got a plaque for driving the farthest. The car actually got over 20 MPG. I couldn't believe it. I was used to my muscle cars getting 8-12 MPG.

As you can tell, the car is in need of major work. He had a Maaco paint job done only about 4 years ago (GREAT WORK GUYS!!!) The interior is trashed as you can see in this picture, the engine drinks oil, and the brakes work when they want.

This is my new interior for the car. It is a Pierre Cardin interior that they used in '72 and '73. This interior cost me all most as much as the car, but I think it's worth it. It is so cool looking.

Here is the original 304 engine. It leaks oil and has some issues, but all in all, runs pretty well. I plan to retire this engine in exchange for a 401. I have been looking. I don't think it will be that difficult to find.

Well this is dad's AMX. As you can tell, it is in worse shape than mine. It needs almost everything and hasn't run in 20 years. One day, I will restore this car for my dad.

This is the plan for dad's car. Mine will be opposite colors. I thought that would be neat to take out cars that were exactly opposite.
Well, keep an eye on all my vehicles. I will be adding to my pages as I work on my cars.
