Page 10: Building passive crossovers
I have a new pair of Audax 4" midranges, model HM100C0.

I decided to pair these with my Morel MDT29 tweeters, but need to run a passive crossover to do so. So I called up Madisound (www.madisound.com), the company I bought my speakers from, and asked them to design a passive crossover for me. The cost? $25! They use LEAP to optimize the crossover using the actual data. The following two pictures are the drivers frequency response beforehand, and their summed response after. The final design is 2 seperate 12db crossovers with an Lpad on the tweeter (to match output levels), and a Zobel equalization circuit to remove a high peak in the impedence curve of the Audax midrange. You can see the awesome job they did to give a VERY flat response between the two. I plan on playing the pair from 200hz up, so you can see how flat it will turn out.

Following the design, I had Madisound build the crossovers for me. They supply the parts and circuit board already assembled. All the parts are hot glued in place on the board and soldered. Here are pics of the crossovers:

Soon to come is installing the new speakers with the Morel tweeters!
